I really liked it, I thought it was really funny. I dont think I'd describe it as lib as fuck at all, could be biased because I thought it was funny, but its not like red scarey at all. Its not pro Stalin, but its not anti Communist.

I like the show but I think this is a completely fair assessment that I wouldnt argue with.

Theres a moment in the Gen V spin off wheres shes threatening someone in a parking garage, I thought "ah how dangerous, he'll die of something subtle" and then his head burst like a watermelon under a tire.

CNN!!! You can't be doing this!!!!!!

I've always read it as at least a little bit a comment on the Iraq war, but what's it's deal? It's the only anime I can think of that climaxes with a military coup, and its cool that mustang wants to put people on trial for war crimes, but then he gets in power and doesn't do it.

It's also just got a whole plotline about racism, but it feels slightly off? Like minorities are okay if they save your life.

Im tired of collecting and managing. Im playing Ghost of Tsushima, and I just cant let myself enjoy it because I obsessively do side quests and find stuff to upgrade. Honestly all the big adventure games these feel like they pull from the same formula, its all just different skins for The Witcher 3. This is why fromsoft games are so much more memorable imo, look at the experience playing sekiro vs ghost of tsushima.

So, The Last Airbender is good. Korra is also good, in a lot of ways. Animation? Brilliant. Choreography? Yes. Anything beyond a surface deep reading of its representation as politics? Well....

Its so weird, how did they go from AtLA, to this show where every good guy is either a cop or a CEO or literal royalty and every single villain is some caricature of a leftist? In the last season, theres a king whos demonstrably dumb, vain, and in no way should be in charge but hes just still played as the good guy and anyone who doesn't want him to be king is evil???

The Avatar, protector of the people, seeker of balance, coming in just to restore the status quo leaders every single time. Its the definition of liberal politics. Just made this thread to bitch, but lets all complain about how many times the heroes in these stories blindly return everything to how it was because "any change = bad"

So, I enjoyed this series a lot when it was fresh. It has:

Disabled characters, strong female presence (for an anime), great action, cool world building, all the hallmarks. Its been around for a while, but it also does that anime thing where the fantasy world is super germanic, but I guess that just goes with the steampunk (Attack On Titan is like this as well.)

On one hand the big genocide in the story is clearly wrong, but theres good guys involved in it that get a pass from the story, and also it treats its made up minority race like nobles, but on the other hand theres a serial killer who goes around killing the aforementioned genociders and the story treats him like he isn't doing anything that bad.

Also: Brotherhood, FMA 2003, or the Manga?
