Currently reading The Winter Fortress by Neal Bascomb. It’s a good read so far!

I wish the best for him. I wanted him to stay here, but he's clearly unhappy.

He was given more chances at breaking into the league than most young players could ever dream of. Hopefully this is what he needs to become a good NHLer.

Adding to the chorus of voices telling you to get a Sonoff stick.

The Conbee II is very old at this point and shouldn’t be used for new setups.

What’s an instance?

An instance is a specific website running Lemmy or another piece of federated software. For example, lemmy.world and lemmy.ml are two distinct instances

What’s a community?

A community is the "sub-reddit" of Lemmy. Kbin uses the word "magazines", but these are the same thing.

What are federations?

A federation is a group of instances sharing posts and activity data with each other so that it can be displayed to their respective end users. For example, I can post to a community on lemmy.world and then you will be able to see my post when you are browsing feddit.de.

Whats the difference between all these?

Let me know if you have additional questions based on my answers above.

What’s mastodon?

Mastodon is a piece of federated software that is built to look and feel like Twitter, similar to how Lemmy is built to look and feel like Reddit.

What’s Kbin?

Kbin.social is a website you can use to browse posts from the Fediverse. From what I understand, it is similar to Reddit as well.

What’s ActivityPub?

ActivityPub is the underlying protocol that Lemmy, Mastodon, and other pieces of federated software use to communicate with each other. This is how they notify each other of new posts, comments, upvotes, etc so they can stay in sync with each other.

Yes! Let's make this place feel like home 🙂

Nice, I missed that! I have Apple TVs in every room at my place, so that's a big upgrade for me.

I worry about your mental health if you implement your button though 😆

Sounds like maybe there's a little refinement needed for that functionality but, like you said, it's a step in the right direction!

I'd love to see Yzerman get it done, but in a way that makes sense. DeBrincat wants a long term -- we can't handcuff ourselves for 7 or 8 years with a contract that doesn't make sense.

This has to be a huge hit to Zadina's confidence, but I agree with Yzerman that we've seen growth in his game. I'd love to see him come out swinging next year.

He'll probably never be the prolific scorer we hoped for, but his defensive game has made strides. If he can bump up the scoring to a more reasonable level, he could be a solid two-way player.

Lots of cool stuff in this release. I could see some very cool automations being built using the new service responses.

Blue LLama Jazz Club, The Earle, Weber’s Restaurant and Paesano Restaurant and Wine Bar have all been recognized for their quality of wine services in a new list created by Wine Spectator.

The awards recognize restaurants that offer wine lists with “interesting” selections that are “appropriate” to the meals they serve and can appeal to a range of wine drinkers, according to Wine Spectator’s website.

I know the article doesn't mention Ann Arbor, but I figured it's relevant for folks going on the river.

Like the article suggests, I'm not entirely sure we're better on paper than last year.

Obviously there's more to a good hockey team than being good on paper though. What are everyone's thoughts?

Let's gooo!!! I can finally wash my Costco hot dog down with a nice Mothfire beer from just across the street.

All,

I come to you with a request. Though I enjoy hiking and the outdoors, I am plagued with incredibly flat feet that get painfully sore after only a few miles of walking.

I'd like to enjoy the outdoors more, but the pain builds and builds until it's no longer enjoyable for me to walk and explore. Part of the issue is that I don't own shoes suitable for such activities -- I mostly wear Vans and other similar flat, wide shoes.

Does anyone here have a similar issue? If so, what are your recommendations for good hiking shoes for a person in my situation?

I would call myself a beginner when it comes to hiking, so they don't need to be anything too fancy, but I'm willing to spend a decent amount to mitigate my stupid feet.

Thank you!

Hello, everyone!

I just wanted to say hello and say thanks to everyone for being involved in this community.

I am certain many of us have left Reddit because of their disastrous and user-hostile changes, so I am hoping we can create a vibrant replacement community here where we can post, converse, and share information about living, working, and traveling in Ann Arbor.

If you have a chance, please say hello in the comments section! And I would welcome any of your contributions to this community... but I will keep posting until you all get involved!
