If you want to go really minimal you could use alpine Linux with dwl as a window compositor and st ans your terminal emulator
I currently run arch with kitty and hyprland but I'm thinking about switching back to Novara and arch in a distrobox or going with bedrock Linux with arch and nobara as a daily driver
I want such a car so badly but i think the depoliticize in Germany wouldn't allow it

Most of the time it isn't about the kernel what is causing gaming problems it is most of the time other packages. I had problems with a few games on KDE neon what uses a ubuntu lts system as its base
I don't know why so many are talking about Debian with distrobox I'm currently testing with bedrock Linux with a hijacked nobara for gaming and GNOME things. I also fetched a arch strata for anything else like window compositor waybar librewolf etc
I don't know how you can use stock GNOME I find it really ugly
My recommendations as extentions would be
Dash to dock Blur by shell Gsconnect

In my graphene os settings I can toggle a permission that a app doesn't have internet access anymore
I didn't know that this feature is already dort of waring in the nightly build but it makes sence that they will test it out in nightly
