a couple million

That's the average price of a teenage life, too, apparently.

From the small thumbnail, I thought the graphic was showing pirate ships, not battle stations.

Darn! Well, at least the option is available for computer-less smartphone owners, I guess.

Can DeX be used with just an external monitor without a PC?

Ironically, I just cleared out an unexpected temporary-files stash of those, haha!

I don't know... I guess I'm being too cautious... though it's also kind of a fun (or maybe sometimes painful lol) stroll down Memory Lane at times...

[–] joshchandra@midwest.social 1 points 1 week ago

I don't think I've heard of that one, thanks!

No prob! I've seen Rocket Mail, Zoho, and Tuta thrown around as of late, and was just curious about others in the ring.

Dang, nice. Who is your email with?

I've been manually going through everything, including merging credentials going back two decades across 2-3 browsers finally to a single password manager, and... geez, there's literal months' worth of reviewing to do if you added up all the time if it was nonstop.

I'm just curious about how others' experiences have been, for those who shifted towards a more anti-megacorp stance later on.

I'm pretty sure @booly@sh.itjust.works was meaning the exact opposite, that it's more about educating perpetrators than taking vengeance or merely dishing out old-fashioned justice on them.

Apparently, it was required to be allowed in that state:

Reading a bit more, during the sentencing phase in that state people making victim impact statements can choose their format for expression, and it's entirely allowed to make statements about what other people would say. So the judge didn't actually have grounds to deny it.
No jury during that phase, so it's just the judge listening to free form requests in both directions.

It's gross, but the rules very much allow the sister to make a statement about what she believes her brother would have wanted to say, in whatever format she wanted.

influence the sentence

From what I've seen, to be fair, judges' decisions have varied wildly regardless, sadly, and sentences should be more standardized. I wonder what it would've been otherwise.

It doesn't even tell me which instance I'm on until an error appears. I wish there was a drop-down option that you could choose to have you show which instance you're currently on at all times. This never happened until I added another account on a different instance, and now it seems to jumble up the 2 continually.

This comment encouraging me to try out NoScript Security Suite (Firefox) changed my life. googletagmanager is used everywhere!

This would be nice since it's effectively useless, at least as far as I can tell.

Great app other than this issue!

  1. Be in account 1
  2. Switch out to account 2
  3. Get all the way to commenting on a post in the feed with no visual indication that anything is wrong
  4. Instance mismatch; you can't submit the comment, nor even save the post to your account

This has happened to me several times now and getting the mismatch popup to appear to switch instances seems to be difficult to trigger. It'd be nice if there was a manual button or constant indicator showing what instance you're on and prompting to switch if there's a mismatch.

I just can't find any!

I just can't find any!

Edit: Thanks, everyone!

I know an incredibly smart senior here near Milwaukee County, WI who's disabled by MS and has been restricted to using a scooter for years. He'd love to walk again, but I but I don't know how he can get involved in studies like this: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-00863-0

All I could find was the ISSCR (Int'l Society for Stem Cell Research), but I don't think reaching them directly would be fruitful, would it?

It garbles advertisers' data as a result, but you must disable uBlock Origin to run it; they can't work simultaneously. I recently moved to it and, so far, am never looking back!

Some UI questions (midwest.social)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by joshchandra@midwest.social to c/summit@lemmy.world

  1. How do you edit your comment that you make to someone's inbox reply? I couldn't figure out how and ultimately had to visit my own profile to edit my comment from there.
  2. How do you search for a certain post title in just one community, such as /c/summit?

Hi everyone, I'm the pianist at St. John Vianney Catholic Parish in Brookfield, where I began a monthly dinner & game night in Fall 2023 and still run it to this day. All are welcome; you do not need to be Catholic nor a member to participate (I'm not Catholic myself, in fact)!

Have dinner, contribute some potato chips or your favorite dish if inclined (but no need), bring your favorite board & card games or learn others' titles, or just socialize and make new friends!

The link points to a webpage which then points to the following RSVP form: https://forms.gle/p6ApeY6AGzu3LUtt9

Hope to see you there! Attendance on average has been within 10-15, but recent events have seen >20 participants, thanks to new promotional efforts done by a volunteer.

Hi everyone, I run near-weekly board game nights at the Festival Foods grocery store in West Allis, WI for the purpose of fostering community, keeping our minds sharp by learning new games, and defeating loneliness in a fun way. I've also recently branched out into organizing dinners for the group (we go Dutch, though, to be clear), which you can still join even if you don't care for board games.

You are all welcome, even if you don't live in West Allis! For those who prefer it, I also duplicate all events on FB for users' convenience: https://www.facebook.com/groups/westallisboardgames

We normally get a minimum of 4-7 attendees every single time. The headcount has never gone higher than 14. The food court can take 24 people if it were to be totally crammed; I counted the seats!
