KDE Testers Assemble! Plasma 6.3 Beta is here.

The first big KDE release of 2025 is just around the corner. Plasma 6.3 will be hitting desktops in about a month. Meanwhile, we need testers to try out the beta and submit bug reports so we can work on making it perfect.

⚠️ATTENTION KPhotoAlbum USERS!⚠️ Update to KPhotoAlbum 6.0.1!

Version 6.0.0 contains a bug that can lead to data loss in the KPA database. Several special circumstances must concur for this to happen, and the photos themselves WILL NOT be affected, only the tags.

However, if you have a lot of tagged photos, this will be a major inconvenience. So either skip 6.0.0 or upgrade immediately.

We are at 95% of our first stretch goal!

With less than €3,000 to go, our fundraiser is about to cross the €50,000 mark, and we will be entering the final stretch of our campaign.

Will your donation push us over the line?

Apple had to learn the hard way: Under the DMA (thanks @EUCommission !) they were forced to give users a choice regarding the default search engine and browser on their systems.

What are we going to do about Microsoft misleading users?

@rochacbruno @kde@lemmy.kde.social It's the same. Money goes either way to us with more or less the same cut by the payment provider, so it depends on which payment method you prefer.

That is regular themes.

_Global_ themes also modify the desktop's behavior and hence contain code to do that.
