Let's say you're a tree. Trees have evolved to share resources. Why? Because if a tree sucks up all its local resources, and kills it's competition, it can no longer reproduce. It may kill every single one of its neighbors, but when it needs to reproduce, who is it doing it with?
Nature punishes greed, and a lot more negative behaviors, in the long term.
That tree survives in the short term by killing off its competition. But long-term, it never makes it. It never has offspring.
All of these things that our moral frameworks praise and reward, they seem to come from nature/an external source. Diligence, cooperation, responsibility, forgiveness, etc.
Considering everyone is in their own echo chamber, I'd say it's pretty easy to miss things.
The question is: How does one fix obesity?
Companies sneak more calories into their foods to make up for the lack of nutrients, like protein and fiber. Thus, increasing the weight of the populous. There's no fixing it really. Obese people will eventually die off, and those left will be, from our own history, smaller in height and girth.
