Beta does and unlike nightly doesn't update every night.

There's also Fennec on fdroid if you need something stable with about:config support.

You were shadowbanned for watching youtube in a web browser with adblock? Sounds excessive.

Well, I do need to exist a certain degree in this world/society by giving away from some data. I'm already an outcast in a way that I do not use popular social media apps/websites most people use.

I can stop more data collection by installing Linux, AOSP, GrapheneOS with bare minimum apps from fdroid.

I could've done that but would be making my life more difficult for little gain.

I'm not using any Meta or standard service to justify funneling any data from my side to them.

My setup blocks most trackers and ads than the average person. I do not even see ads on my phone be it a website or a native app. I reduce my reliance on google only to what's needed. Others do not get it unless needed. This reduces data collection to a high degree.

This loophole for example did not touch my phone since ads and trackers are already blocked to a high degree.

You are willingly giving away your data if you are not blocking trackers in your web browser and android apps.

I recommend Firefox +Ublock-origin for web browser and apps liker PersonalDNSFilter or Adguard android app if you can get a license for HTTPS filtering.

I use FairEmail. I have most of emails downloaded on device and those which aren't can be searched from the server.

You can contact the dev by filling an online request form. Maybe, he can help with your search issue.

They call it midrange. But, snapdragon 7+gen 3, 240hz 1500nits HBM IGZO OLED display, 256/512GB of UFS 4.1 with microsdcard support.

I would've bought this phone if it was made available outside of Japan.

Clicking that link results in unknown link error for some reason.

If you care about these things best would be to use a chat application like Jami which won't end up like WhatsApp.

Interesting such a feature exists in voyager. If I hadn't seen this post I never would've found it even if I used voyager for years.

Where do you enable this setting?

The original link better reporting without the clickbait title.

Pros

  • Lightweight, grippy and durable build with IP68/69 and MIL-STD-810H certifications.
  • Bright OLED panel with HDR10+ support.
  • Very loud and nice-sounding speakers.
  • Solid camera performance.
  • Dependable battery life, fast charging.
  • Hard-to-find connectivity features (SmartConnect), microSD card slot.

Cons

  • The chipset could be more powerful for the price.
  • Camera app can be laggy and unresponsive at times.
  • Ultrawide camera has focus-hunting issues during video recording.
  • No charger in the box (in some markets).

I downloaded and successfully setup buzzkill. Then a day or two later found FilterBox. It was created at the same time as buzzkill but has AI spam filtering – I'm guessing a traditional algorithm for spam filtering used in emails and not an an actual LLM.

So, why is it not recommended more instead of buzzkill.

Tap for spoilerOn ~~reddit~~..
It also has a nice UI and supports analytics for your notifications history. Also has double the downloads of buzzkill. Although, buzzkill has a simple UI.

The algorithm spam filtering which is based on your recommendation is neat. Especially, since you do not need to manually create rules for each and every spam message/notification across messaging apps.

What are your thoughts?

Since I just paid for buzzkill and did a thorough setup I hesitate to jump ship. But, spam filtering is enticing. For those 10-20% of use cases which cannot be filtered by regular rules unless you keep on adding more.

The sync developer has been MIA for a long time (1 year or longer) and I fear it will stop working sooner or later when Lemmy instances start updating to v1.0 in future.

I use Sync because it has a nice Material you theme, is smooth, supports caching posts & media offline (also keeps the comments, posts loaded even if android reclaims memory from the app)

I can open posts, comments, and even communities in a seperate window if I choose to do so.

Anything with multi window support out there yet? I used voyager for posting. But, want sync like multi window capabilities.

TL;DR

  • Google is working on a change to Android’s early boot process that improves how quickly kernel modules are loaded.
  • This change has resulted in a 30% reduction in loading time for the Pixel 10, according to a Google engineer.
  • As a result of this change, the Pixel 10 and other Android devices should boot up slightly faster, though it’s unclear how much of a difference it’ll make.

So, an acquaintance of mine has a malware which shows an ad every once a while especially when you install apps.

It's hiding in settings with an icon and name called "Settings". It has no icon in the launcher. It cannot be uninstalled. It has acquired device admin settings and even that cannot be revoked. Google play protect warns of this malware but even play protect does not have enough permissions to actually remove it for good.

I tried to enable developer options to nuke it via adb. Unfortunately, developer options are blocked with a pop-up saying Device managed by your organization.

Outside of official service center visit. Or reflashing the stock firmware. Are there any ways the malware can be deleted?

I have advised to get it fixed from the place he bought.

TL;DR

  • Multiple Pixel phone users are reporting significant boosts in Geekbench GPU scores after updating to the Android 16 beta.
  • Android Authority can confirm that Pixel phones are performing better in this benchmark since launch, but that this is also the case on the most recent Android 15 stable release.
  • The reason for this performance increase hasn’t been confirmed but likely has to do with recent GPU driver updates.

TL;DR

  • Google has added a tabbed interface to the Terminal app in Android 16 Beta 3.
  • The Terminal app lets you run Linux apps in a virtual machine on your Android device.
  • Adding tabs makes it easier to multitask, as you can issue commands without having to wait for a process to complete.

TL;DR

  • Google Play Store has started rolling out a new “Pause” feature for Play Protect, allowing users to temporarily disable app security scans.
  • Unlike the previous “Turn off” option, the new feature automatically reactivates Play Protect the next day, reducing the risk of users forgetting to turn it back on.
  • This update should help protect Android users from malware and scams while still allowing them to sideload apps without long-term security risks.

The pictures leaked by Winfuture.de come with very little information about their specs, so we’re left with what’s visible in the images for the most part. For starters, it looks like both Motorola phones will feature triple cameras. The 50-megapixel main camera on both will reportedly use Sony’s Lytia 900 sensor, which would be a nice improvement over the Lytia 700C sensor inside the previous models, Edge 50 and Edge 50 Pro.

Even though the Edge 60 series phone feature similar camera configurations, the vanilla model is said to offer a smaller 12-24 mm focal length, whereas the Edge 60 Pro’s main camera has a focal length of 12-73 mm.

One visible difference between the two phones is that the Edge 60 Pro comes with an extra button on the left side. Also, the Edge 60 Pro had a more curved display, but these seem to be the only design differences between the two device

Motorola Edge 60 will be available in three different colors – blue, rose/pink and turquoise, while the Edge 60 Pro is supposed to come in blue, green and violet. No details about availability and price have emerged yet, but it’s safe to assume that information concerning the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro will surface in the not-too-distant future.

Just for the sake of comparison, the Edge 50 and Edge 50 Pro were a bit pricy at launch, as Motorola sold them for €600 and €700, respectively. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that Motorola will bring these to the United States, since neither the Edge 50 nor the Edge 50 Pro were officially introduced in the country.
