I don't think I have, I think I've only seen it since in renditions of it in movies like Perks of Being a Wallflower. It's kinda crazy that this is still part of the culture ha. Show then movie comes out in the 70s, I see it a couple decades later high as a kite when watching it has been turned into a production itself and a couple decades after that it's still a thing!

I remembered freshman year of college, I think on Halloween, there was a showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. I knew people were into it but I had no idea what it was about. Soooo I ate a street-bought edible and went to it by myself. I had no clue how the audience was all reacting and shouting the same shit at the screen and trying to reason with my high brain like...are they all reading a script? What is happening?? Got myself good that day. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think they're losing tons of money even on their $200/month plan. Last year they projected to lose like $5 billion. They just picked pricing arbitrarily I don't see how they will turn a profit anytime soon.

That's a lot to process and unlearn tbh. I honestly wouldn't worry about romantic or flirting interactions at this stage and maybe just practice lower stakes social interaction, yes like small talk. Like anything, conversation takes practice and you get better at it the more you do it. But the reality is, you can't go into a situation expecting perfection. You will say something awkward or embarrassing at some point because that's just human nature. We all have. Coping with that sort of thing is a necessary experience and skill. Maybe you could try going to an event geared for socializing and just challenge yourself to have two conversations, with no goal in mind. I think I would get used to casual interactions before attempting to figure out romantic ones.

I have a picky kid so dinners have gotten pretty basic over here. I used to make a crazy 'world's best lasagna' recipe that required some time. Like all sorts of cheeses, that thing was gooooood.

Something I've never made but would love to try is like a Beef Wellington or something.

Congrats! Looks like CBC is projecting a liberal win!

Lurking American here. Curious who you think will win in your gut? I understand we won't really know until results are counted. A couple of stories covered by American media (one definitely liberal leaning) I've read and listened to seems to think because of the odiousness of our president, liberals may take it? Do you think that's likely?

We went Bosch, I think some 800 series or something. It's nice, it's got that hidden top rack for the weird shaped utensils and whatnot. Also nerded out and watched instructional videos and they were saying it's best to just scrape food off and load. Don't pre-rinse, you're basically doing the job twice if you pre-wash. We had a Whirlpool before which the appliance sales guy said any Whirlpool is like entry-level. Once you go up a level they brand them as KitchenAid cause I guess those two companies merged.

When you start to level up in life, invest in a mid-tier or above dishwasher. Man that thing has changed my life. We had a dishwasher but it started leaking and caused water damage on the floor. That was a whole headache. Went to buy a new one once the floor was fixed, turns out I had a very basic, entry level dishwasher. It wasn't terrible (until it leaked) but upgrading to a better one, oooh baby, this thing cleans and dries like a dream! Ah such a midlife thrill acquiring an effective dishwasher.

Oh thank fuck he's alive. I kept reading everyone assuming he was dead and started to believe it. Now what happens...?

I'm very anti-gun for myself and live in an area where it's fairly rare or at the very least open carry is not a thing cause it's weird to see guns in every day life. I have shot a pistol at a shooting range and I remember it being way more powerful than expected. I actually enjoy first-person shooter video games and whatnot but in actual life I don't want one. If I ever had to shoot someone...then I have to live with the fact that I shot someone. Not really how I want to be. I'm sure I'd shit myself in the moment but if it came to having to defend myself and I died cause I didn't have a gun...well I guess that was my time.

Point of Infinity by Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto was installed on the top of Yerba Buena Island in 2023. It also acts as a sun dial! Pretty cool. Never spent much time on Yerba Buena or Treasure Island, but went on a clear day and the views were killer. Cool little restaurant called Mer-Sea was nice to have lunch at. Bizarre seeing all the new tall apartment complexes being built. Right on top of where I saw Justice at Treasure Island Music Fest...

Whatup Yay Areaaaa. Been fiddling around on Lemmy and trying to understand the Fediverse. Feeling very old in the process, ha. I'm enjoying it for the most part. Though modern life has gotten me used to the firehose of content that comes at you on Reddit et al.

Super glad to call this place home. Life ain't normal but it does feel like we have this shell of insulation from immediate danger here. I mean, I'm not naive, a lot of the power and wealth is literally here fucking shit up but we've got a lot of good folks who care, so that's nice.

This year, I want to check out a Ballers game. Maybe road trip through the coastal redwoods. Focus on local action and community. Do garbage walks around the neighborhood. Whatcha getting up to? I mean in addition to surviving and whatnot. I wish you tasty tacos in your future.
