Most school systems accidentally make reading a dreadful activity as the texts are tied to rote learning of facts and events for exam purposes

The big five publishers don't seem to care about declining reading rates and continue to put out the same five or six types of books bc they don't know how to market anything else

Ebooks don't retail for competitive prices, both compared to hard copy books and to other media

Do what the fund managers do and set a % range for books unread in your library - no more than 30% no less than 20, perhaps

Cycle volumes in and out. Gotta close that loop. Then each year do a count to monitor growth and shelving needs

SORTED I'm Gordon ramsey

I have a young calathea ornata

YT says mist it every day and whatever you do, DON'T MIST IT as mould will form, and says it prefers hours of indirect sunlight and also low light conditions such as beneath a canopy -_-

everyone should read dracula. it works for two main reasons, stoker has an eye for the cinematic, and you get behind his protagonists like no other book's protagonists. They have so much love and regard for each other

it doesn't matter that it's not ʟ ɪ ᴛ ᴇ ʀ ᴀ ᴛ ᴜ ʀ ᴇ its still one of the best Victorian reads

the year was 2002 and I was hacking and slashing in Dynasty Warriors 3, one of the GOAT PS2 titles. my bro and I got intrigued by china breaking up and thought thought Lu Bu and Zhang Fei were badasses so we said hey jeeves what other Dynasty Warriors media is there? Soon I discovered a massive novel in four volumes - the romance of the three kingdoms - and thought damn that's fat for a game tie-in novel this Moss Roberts guy must love the games like we do to translate this gigachonker

naturally I bought a copy. the covers and box sheath colored in an unsalable brown only a university press could sign off on, with nearly phonebook-thin paper and typesetting that wasnt always perfectly square on the page, but I ate it up. i got my Han Dissolution on and discovered gandalf, napoleon and macguyver in chinese form: the inestimable Zhuge Liang

I wish i knew where that set got to, but yeah an unabridged chinese epic attributed to some guy called Luo from the 16th cent. is mine

Conflict? A good image is a good image regardless of its provenance. And yes 2020s era 4chan was pretty much glowboy central, one look at the top posts by country of origin said as much. It arguably wasn't worth bothering with since 2015

What's going on with the server? My alt account lives there and he could use a welfare visit. It's been offline for at least three days.
