It's not one or the other. There are many ways to obtain information. You're limiting yourself in your thought. Think bigger.
There was a schism where all of a sudden profit became more important than quality. That's when capitalism started showing it's purely destructive roots. My strong opinion is that anyone born into a progressive society is entitled to food, clothing and shelter. The bare minimum you need to survive. There are too many holes in the middle of most towns and cities nowadays with the "Corporation Corners" on the outskirts sucking up all the money that used to flow inward.
If proportional representation makes a democratic system more fair for all, and we are not moving towards it, then we're just "America Lite" and nothing more. We share the same values with Trump and his crew, to a lesser extent. C'mon politicians! Quit sitting on your fat asses where you can take lots of time off and still get paid. What are you? The privileged elite? It's time to do the right thing for the citizens. Throwing money at new projects and corporations to stimulate the economy just means that the same old players who are familiar with the system get the contracts and they'll be dancing to the same old song all over again.
I went to a college and asked what is the best program I can take that'll guarantee a job when I'm finished. This was back in the 90's and their answer was "Computer Analyst/Programmer". After about 20 years in the industry all I wished for was a job outside, maybe driving a tractor around in circles, in a field, away from a city.
