This is actually the goal of newer math classes, and is why so many parents have been complaining about “new math”. The new goal is to teach students the core components, then show them how to break larger problems down into those core components.

7x12 may be difficult to do in your head (at least without memorizing your times tables or counting by 7’s) but (7x10)+(7x2) is fairly easy. The goal is to move away from rote memorization like times tables, because educators realized that the best students didn’t actually rely on rote memorization. Instead, they relied on mental shortcuts derived from actual understanding. Plus, rote memorization only works up to a certain point. You don’t need to memorize what 15x13 is, when you can break it down into a series of smaller and easier (15x10)+(15x3)=150+45=195 style problems.

Personally, I haven’t had any issues with new math, because that’s how I always did math. I was one of those students who got bored with rote memorization and started devising shortcuts for math problems. And now they’re teaching those very shortcuts as part of the curriculum, because they realized that it gives a much deeper understanding of how and why the math works.

My buddy still regularly plays EverQuest Online. These days, it’s sort of expected that you multibox and run an entire party, instead of just one character. He usually has his bots pulling mobs in the background of whatever other game we happen to be playing.

And where did that get us?

Fix two things:

  1. The weird loot range issue, where if you’re not standing in juuuuust the right angle, you won’t be able to loot certain corpses or containers.
  2. The fact that, outside of combat, controlling Geralt feels like driving a boat. Weird large turn radiuses, slow start and stop, etc… The devs did this to make his movement look more natural, but it feels like the game is constantly fighting against or trying to correct your inputs.

Combine those two things together, and you get a consistently frustrating experience outside of combat. Installing a ranged loot mod was one of the biggest quality of life upgrades. You walk near a corpse or container, and it automatically gets looted.

The combat can also get repetitive at times, and the difficulty scaling is weird too. But as long as those two things and still deliver a good story, I think players will ultimately walk away happy.

The issue is that the president and congress already get government-provided healthcare, and it is far above what Medicare provides. We should just require all elected officials to use Medicare with no extra private insurance, and Medicare will get fixed real fucking quick.

At this point, we need guillotines outside of every exit of every United Health office.

Unfortunately, the real appeal of the Borderlands series is multiplayer. The games are alright in single player mode, but multiplayer is where it really shines. And cracked copies likely won’t work with multiplayer, because they use game servers for matchmaking.

Skip 1, play 2. The second game opens with the main character having amnesia, so basically everything important from the first game is explained to you. The first game is rough by modern standards, and will almost certainly put you off of playing the rest of the series.

2 is starting to show its age, for what it’s worth. It’s still a great game, but go into it with tempered expectations; It’s missing a lot of the quality of life things you have probably come to expect. Though you can also mod the game, so that may be worth looking into if you enjoy modding.

3 is a great game, but get through the intro area before you actually judge it. The tutorial is a massive slog. The game picks up around the time you reach the Bloody Baron, so at least get to that point before you write it off as boring. The DLC is 100% worth playing. Play the Hearts of Stone DLC before finishing the main story, then the Blood and Wine story after beating the game. And again, there are a few mods that I would install, like an auto-loot mod. The “apply oils when you draw your sword” mod used to be necessary too, but the devs actually ended up adding that into the base game.

I exclusively use the Hannah Montana KDE fork out of spite.

Which is a complaint about the electoral college, not STL voters. STL voted for a strong FEMA. But the city is getting trashed on both sides because conservatives hate them for being liberal, while liberals hate them for being in a conservative state.

They mentioned wildfires. If your house burns down in a wildfire, your buddy’s house three streets away is also going to be on fire.
