Where is this new post? lemmy.ml was down for a day or two, maybe it hasn't caught up?

I'd participate in a challenge if it's a sim I happen to have. I'll be last... every time... but I'd have fun being last =]

So I hear the "anyone but godaddy" thing a lot, however I have struggled to find anyone that has the same features as they do. For example:

• Domain security which entirely hides contact information for registries
• Email Proxy
• 2FA that supports yubikey or security keys
• Doesn't black hole registration when using a protonmail.com email domain.
  • EDIT: Porkbun support took care of this after sending them an email. YAY

The email and contact proxy seems to be specific to certain TLDs but for the one I happen to use GD supports it.

I'd love to move to something else if for no other reason than the website is annoying, but every time I look the other options are worse.

Start experimenting and break stuff. Set up some good backups and snapshots, learn how to use those well so you aren't completely screwed when something is unrecoverable, and then go to town on all the experimental software you read about but haven't tried. Breaking stuff will quickly make you proficient at the command line, and help you to understand how things work underneath your GUI.

keepass (not xc) has a plugin for autotype. I have not tried it yet.

keepassxc seems reluctant to use this method and instead would prefer to push the work upstream https://github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc/issues/2281 .

Unfortunately keepassxc has backed themselves into a corner where the upstream fix referenced in that issue is closed, and they are unwilling to implement a workaround themselves. So it looks like it won't be supported any time soon.

EDIT: Seems as though there may be a way to do this with xdg-desktop-portal in the near future. But the sentiment about cutting out the middleman only to need more middlemen seems to be accurate for that direction.

except unfortunately sway doesn't actually support VRR the way it's suppose to be used. Currently VRR is active until you make a window full screen, once a window is full screen VRR doesn't work anymore. So pretty much exactly backwards from how it's suppose to work.

Hyprland does VRR right but it has several other issues that make sway the better choice for now, just with VRR disabled.

Yeah I'm confused about this restriction, those are the two most viable options... I can't find any context in the comments as to why input on these is not welcome.

According to the developer the issue a couple weeks ago was due to hitting the existing rate limiting because of growing numbers. Not because google was all of a sudden caring more than they used to.

Was there a more recent issue? Things have been working for me since that account pool increase. I see another issue referencing anonymous login rate limiting but that was already happening before and you could request a new account from the account settings page and it would generally resolve it.

Try deselecting "Show Reminders" in that specific calendar's settings? I don't have a lot of events though so I didn't test this.
