I wouldn’t say inured. People seem to care a great deal and feel exasperated over the ongoing situation. There’s a political impotence and lack of analysis revealed by the situation… and I think that impotence and lack of analysis is part of a vicious feedback loop that actually inspires more violence, larger kill counts, increasingly cruel targets.

Get into birding. See if there’s an improv scene nearby. Do you have a micro cinema with really original programming? Board game store with a good community?

Educating us is incredibly challenging. The anti communist immune response built into almost every adult is immediate and severe. But the contradictions are always heightening which makes the soil more fertile. No I cannot stick to just one metaphor!

Seems like there are 4 or 5 hexbearians from the area which is a lot more than I would’ve guessed. Definitely upgraded my opinion of our city a bit. And I didn’t mean to imply it’s a uniquely shitty city, just one that has personally infuriated me quite a few times.

The best part of this proposed tax was them admitting it would earn them 2 billion over 40 years but don’t worry it’ll bring 200 million in new revenue over the same period.

They did build a tiny street car, but it’s just a mile long stretch that connects the corporate mega projects to the open container alcohol zone. Hopefully one day it can turn into a useful alternative to owning a car in a city full of empty private parking lots.
