Hmm I feel like that is the point I was trying to make even if I didn't say it precisely that way, thank you though.
Pretty sure that the tech is designed to use the location of the last phone that saw it, therefore it would falsely lead to your house until another phone sees it and then a third would let it actually triangulate.
Something tells me OP is lacking a critical piece of info, such as a shady 3rd party seller... this doesn't look like OEM Apple boxing to me.

I had a clothy Surface laptop for work. Hated that thing. That is all.
Try with Safari. Also - are you clicking on a link? Bookmarked? History? The entry point does make a difference.
