Allen Wright suggested naming it “Oklahumma”. In the Choctaw language “okla” means “people” and “humma” means “red.” As a result, the area would be named Oklahoma Territory, or literally “Territory of the Red People.”

There are some arguments that "Homma" can also be a war title given for not retreating, but within the context of our racial history I don't think that's what they were going for.
