Baldur's Gate 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 show that the future of RPGs is in games way more ambitious, weird and unexpected than anything Bethesda and Bioware have to offer in c/games@lemmy.world

the latter, the main story's final quest lets you know before you start it that's it's a point of no return (though you can also just reload a save from before you do it)
