Also a super useful tool for measuring real world bandwidth, both on physical media and over the network ( dd status=progress ... | nc ...).

Oh go fsck yourself (maybe that works better written...).

As much as I think a "would you like to have a beer with the candidates?" is a stupid way of measuring things...I wouldn't mind having a beer with these candidates.

When I visited Alaska, they said you should always take the sights off your rifle. That way it doesn't hurt as much when the grizzly shoves it up your ass.

It's also, in my opinion, the most verb-able of all *NIX commands.

Dumb question, but in a very oxygen rich environment, can you just breathe through a paper bag or something? Mostly just breathe your own exhaled CO2 with a bit of O2 leaking in?

That's not really true though. My family has excellent insurance, and the whole process of having a kid and all the pediatric visits since have been great (both in terms of care and cost).

That said, our healthcare system sucks at a population level, and I certainly recognize that. But I think recognition that our system works very well for a small part of the population is an important thing to acknowledge.

I certainly "hold an unfavorable view" of the US healthcare system...but that's not because it doesn't work for me personally.

Seems more analogous to clothes than housing

clothes can be "too big" in the sense that the extra size is detrimental to the function, which is somewhat different from houses.

And it's pretty common to have buy-nothing groups in cities or even at large companies. Got a loooot of hand-me-down clothes for my toddler from friends, family, and randos in the neighborhood.

Yep, I was just reciting the next line in the script :)

I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase...

*"Please, please, ladies

one at a time. No seriously, one at a time, the global interpreter lock can't handle more than that."*

Only joking. Sorta...
