Whenever I leave sugar in hot water, it always form a distinct transparent layer from the water above. After I stir it, the remaining sugar will form a less distinct layer. Why don't the layers diffuse onto eachother? Can anyone explain this?

That makes sense. I guess that's a demonstration of pink's power as a diamond. She can comfortably live and fight in a sub-optimal physical form.

In the show, Amethyst is gem who shapeshift the most, and even she couldn't do it for more than a day. How could Pink Diamond live for thousands of years in Rose Quartz's body?
