I had this happen to me too with an AMD card. I tried:

  • Updating the BIOS
  • Updating Windows
  • Updating video drivers
  • Unplugging all unused USB devices
  • Tried the beta gaming video drivers
  • Tried the studio video drivers
  • Updated the CPU/chipset driver
  • Updated the SSD firmware
  • Uninstalled a bunch of programs
  • Reinstalled Windows from the factory recovery
  • Reinstalled Windows from Microsoft's USB tool
  • Swapped my UPS for regular surge protector

Finally in frustration, i disassembed the computer completely. When i was taking it apart, I noticed something that I couldn't see from the outside: That one of the motherboard offset screws was stripped and not fully seated. And, because this screw was next to the PCIE slot the graphics card plugged into, the motherboard was slightly warped upwards by a millimeter or two, and prevented the video card from seating fully. I replaced the stripped screw, put the computer back together, with the video card now seated snugly in the PCIE slot.

And the random stuttering was finally GONE!

Maybe you can start at the bottom of my list and work your way up to save time...

Its the same with the special edition Pop-Tarts. The first Eggo or Apple Jacks bite is amazing! Then you get halfway through the box, and you start tasting an artificial chemical after-taste. By the end, you're trying to offload the last toxic tart on to an unsuspecting coworker...

I think the GUI is more refined and the initial setup a bit easier for casual users. I'm a Jellyfin user, because my online entertainment budget is exactly $0.

Thirded! Its what i use on my only non-linux pc. I will help you make a bootable usb drive if you want. I installed it 2 years ago. In that time, it has received maybe 4 or 5 updates requiring a reboot. Everytime, i go to check to see if it has reinstalled Edge or any AI bloatware. It has not.

That is indeed a fun fact! I am somewhat obsessed with sodium vapor lights and the bandwidth of light they produce. I would love to have seen the original camera rig and their special prisms, but apparently they only made three and they've been lost.

I will listen and not judge, especially if you don't have people in real life you can open up to.

This would imply the existence of butthuggers

Exactly! I generate a frack-ton of excel reports at work, and I output them in the format Subject-Report-2025-09-01.

And on another note, when you're traveling through the time Continuum, do you ask the nearest person for the day and month first? Nope, it's always "what year is it?!" because you're probably being chased by futuristic terrorists or super soldiers...

It did work out - and just in the nick of time! My main router, a Cudy, was glitching badly; I took it apart yesterday and found a bulging capacitor about to burst. So I flashed my old Linksys with the latest OpenWrt - it was so effortless that I wasn't sure I configured it properly! Even though it's an older WiFi 5 model, speedtests show no measurable drop in performance. Interestingly, packet latency is half of the Cudy's, so it feels much snappier and responsive. It honestly feels like an upgrade lol. I love the app store it has too, very useful. Thank you very much for the recommendation!

Maybe that will happen in those giant urban nightmares they call cities. I moved out of the decaying concrete jungle (Escape From L.A.!) and have been living in small towns for the past decade. Here, live music is made every night, spilling out onto the boardwalk and carried by the wind to brighten and invigorate minds old and new. Real music is an art that will survive the AI apocalypse, and perhaps be the last echo of our civilization, spreading out into the cosmos long after we're gone, and exchanting distant (alien) minds.

If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that technology is not point. It's just a tool, like a magnifying glass. Stop focusing on the tech, you're going to waste what little time you have here on Earth. People are the point. Relationships are the point. Feeling emotions and expressing them is the point.

I have worked in IT almost my entire life. I watched computers shrink from refrigerator size to watch size. I witnessed the birth of the internet, and watched it grow, increasing in size and complexity until it seemed to connect everything. I could have been a programmer, or database architect, or systems administrator. But no, I chose to stay in tech support because that is how I connect with other people. Some of the best conversations I've ever had were when I was working under someone's desk. I've seen ten thousand people in person struggle with tech problems that you and I would find trivial to solve. Are you saying that all those people, all those farmers, doctors, teachers, public defenders, artists, and parents deserve to be banished to the Phantom Zone because they can't edit a PDF? Get the fuck outta here with that shallow thinking, and re-evaluate your life, and what is truly meaningful in it. May this conversation be the seed that helps you grow to your full and wonderful potential.

All my love, Biped # 117 Billion +1
