Yeah PS5 has killed consoles for me I think. I have always had a Playstation, but when I got a Steamdeck and I was able to play every game ever and online was free. It showed me Playstation's major limitations. Then they released that terrible Steamdeck like controller with the screen where you could only stream games to it from your PS5 and it was super expensive. Sony is out of touch with what consumers want.

I've been super disapointed by the PS5. Games sucked and I basically only played my PS4 games on it. I'll build a PC now before I buy another console.

I was using xmanager for a long time, then I moved on from Spotify altogether. I think it depends on how you use Spotify. I was really trying to hold onto streaming music because I didn't want to loose my playlists, but when I looked at my Wrapped every year, I was listening to the same artists and songs alot of the time.

For me it made more sense to buy the music I loved, rather than pay a monthly fee to listen to the same tracks. Now I have a great currated music collection on my phone that I control. If you decide to buy music, 7digital and Bandcamp are great.

Hot take, I dont think it is that great of a show. I watched the first two seasons and enjoyed moments of them, but I wish it was more lighthearted. The show takes itself very seriously at times and that's when I feel myself checking out. I didn't even bother with season 3.

I'm looking to get a gaming pc. I mainly want to use it for emulation of PS3 and Xbox 360 and lower. Would also use for modern gaming some too. I would like to load Bazzite onto it so I can be on Linux and use a steamdeck like interface.

I'm looking at the second hand market and I see one with these specs:

Ryzen 5 2600 Evga GeForce GTX 1660 ADATA XPG 16GB (8x2GB) 3000mhz MSI B450m pro-vdm max 500GB NVME M.2 + 1TB HDD Thermaltake 650w 80+ Bronze Coolermaster q300l v2 mATX Case

Would this PC work well with Bazzite and run PS3 games well?

Retro Bowl is good. Pay to unlock, but it is one time payment and the game is solid

I don't have high hopes for this movie.

You can say it is Calgary. It is a massive problem. There was a 17 year old on a skateboard who was recently hit and killed by a 79 year old lady. This is at least the third time in less than a year that someone has been hit in a crosswalk by an older woman. One of the cases someone was hit by two older women back to back and killed. I wish I was joking, but that actually happened.

I walk in Calgary to work every day and I can confirm that it is dangerous. My walk is only 15 mins, but I had so many close calls that I had to buy a construction vest and a headlamp for when I am walking at night. Some people will yell at me when my headlamp shines on them, but at least they see me and stop.

We need better lighting, we need more frequent reviews of peoples licenses, (Normally people get a license when they are 17 and they are never reviewed again), we need harsher punishments for people who drive dangerously (if you hit someone in a crosswalk, it should be a significant license suspension, 6 months to 1 year), and we need more investment in protected bike lanes and pedestrian over/underpasses so you don't need to always risk getting hit to just cross the street. Too many people in Calgary are entilted drivers and act like they have a right to drive as fast as they want.

More people will die and I could very well still be one of them despite the precautions I take. I would also argue that 1 million won't even scratch the surface of addressing how widespread of a problem this is in the city. That one guy who was hit and killed by the two older ladies and died was at a crosswalk that is unlit and was frequently complained about for being unsafe, but the city said it was too expensive to put in a light system. People have still been hit in lit crosswalks, but the fact that the city has a price where they won't prioritize pedestrians lives is apparant.

I think it's probably more trouble than it is worth

[–] qwestjest78@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

God, I hope they strike soon

Yeah, I'm not really feeling this.

Were can I buy external ssds and hdds? I used to buy them on Amazon, but I don't want to go through them

I have been using different apps for years to follow my favorite teams and leagues. I used Bleacher Report for a while and then a few others. Problem always is at some point they get enshitified and start covering the pages with ads, sports betting, and send pushy notifcations.

I really just want something that will let me see the games being played today and send me notifcations when the games start.

I have migrated my browser over to IronFox, but I have noticed that my banking apps dont like it for signing in. I'm wondering if there is an app that can change the default browser when certain apps are open, and then revert back when they are closed.

I'm going to upgrade the micro SD card I use for emulation to one with more storage. What is the best way to close the micro SD card I have in my steam deck now to a new one so I can just plug in and go with all my games and save files?

I set up Immich on a spare mini PC running Linux Mint with a spare external HDD to store the library. Used Docker compose as recommended on the website. Everything was working great last night. Then this morning I decided to move the mini PC to a more permanent location. I powered down and moved it. When everything restarted though I discovered that I was unable to c9nnect to the immich server. I went onto the mini PC and the local host and all it says is, "connection was reset." I have tried restarting docker from terminal several times and it says the immich services are running. I still cannot connect to the server though. What can I do to fix this?

My big winter boots I have used for the last few years got a split in them today. I use them a lot as I walk about 1km a day to and from work. I have to walk up hills and on ice at times. Which boots should I buy that will be good quality, keep my feet warm and dry, and last repeated daily use?

I am coming from being a console player all my life. I love the conviency of a console, but I'm tired of all the B.S. Subscriptions, lack of exclusives, no backwards compatibly. I got a steam deck last year and I love it. I would like something more powerful though that I can plug into my TV though and game in at least 1080p with high settings. Ideally 4k with decent settings.

I am transitioning my computing to Linux and I like the look of Bazzite which is very similar to the steam desk. I would like to do a build that can replace my console. I'm thinking I should go Ryzen AMD. I'm more just wondering what components will work with a Linux build and if there are some things I should avoid. If someone has recommendations for a $1500 CAD build I would also be very interested in that.

I've been cutting out subscriptions and Spotify is the last one I would like to get rid of. I've transitioned to buying and downloading my favourite artists songs so I can own the music I love. The only thing keeping me with Spotify at the moment is the Release Radar playlist it creates for you. Basically I want to know if there is a way to get notified when the artists I follow release new music. I've been looking and so far I haven't found a viable alternative.
