Go insights, thanks.

Ha, I'll put myself down, being guilty of 'don't tell me what to do' and driving. Not political though, I don't see driving or city policy as D/R, or at least it shouldn't be, that's dumb 😋

It wasn't until I read why the signs were there that I understood.

While walking/running, I just figured I always had to protect my self, and if people didn't pay attention, the sign wouldn't help me.

Agreed. I don't blame those countries for not spending tons of money on a military they didn't think they needed.

Now, I'm looking at France cutting it's social programs to cover increases in military spending. Agree or disagree with the spending or their PM's choices, I hugely respect the idea that they keep a budget or try. The US hasn't done that for...25 years?

I saw a good video analysis about France spending lately. I'm going to edit that in.

It's just another opinion, but I learned a lot.

I agree.

How did we run honest new agencies before greed (if such a time exists)?

News probably needs to be except from greed influence, but I am not savvy enough to imagine that business model unless people are willing to subscribe, and the org never goes public.

Damn! That would be epic and well played for sure. Not advocating.

It's not terribly different from law enforcement getting a search warrant for a video feed covering the apartment of a known pedo video distributor and then tracking down everyone.

The problem would be violation of privacy for everyone who went there who wasn't a pedo.

Obviously, that's not a perfect comparison for the Internet because it's acceptable from anyone, but they're following the same playbook.

How much privacy are you willing to trade to stop pedos from hurting kids?

Edit: in thinking about this, the save the kids stuff has been worn out by a certain group that even I'm tired of. I didn't really think about that when I came up with the example, not that I expect it would matter to people's personal feelings on the matter.

Do you live in Europe?

I don't, but I get the impression that most European citizens don't have much interest in escalation.

Turkey was mentioned. I'm my mind, they aren't really cut from the same cloth of much of Europe. They seem to be an outlier.

EU/NATO countries are pretty cautious.

There's some really good geopolitics related content from real life lore and task and purpose (just content people, not experts, might still learn something).

Military stuff:

Any chance this is a result of a few decades of consolidation of power, corporate ownership and influence, and partisan political views killing people's trust in the news?

How do you reverse all that?

People know that these companies make money by doing the opposite of environmental needs right?

The only way th se companies support the goals is to either drastically change their business model, or stop existing...
