Sony Xperia 1 and 5 series phones. They actually do have some bloatware but it's not egregious at all.

sad seeing how many of them folded straight away

I just tell people that each instance is like a country and users are able to move and interact with each other. Some countries revoke passport rights to/from other countries.

I think it's okay if it doesn't happen overnight. As long as the instances of the Verse get more developed and users remain engaged, more will come. Reddit will decay into Facebook lite and other forums will thrive.

there's no pressure my dude, ultimately it's just an internet forum. Everyone adding their own content, even shit posting, helps the verse get better. Don't be afraid to start your own mag and spread your ideal. build and they shall come.

Demagoguery, something that Socrates critiqued as a product of democratic systems.

Socrates imagined an election between a doctor and a candy store owner. The doctor would tell the populace what they didn’t want to hear.
As Socrates described it, the candy store owner would say of the physician that he works many evils on you. He hurts you, gives you bitter potions, tells you not to eat and drink whatever you like. What fun is that? The candy store owner, however, would offer sweets and tasty things. He would appeal to what people wanted, not what they needed. He would provide easy and popular answers to all their difficult problems

unfortunately we have too many candy store politicians across the globe.

As we approach July I think it's best we stop focusing on Reddit. Just let it slowly drown and instead work on making this place the community we know it can be.

from what I understand.. each instance is like a country and the Beehaw government just banned passports to/from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works. Citizens can hold dual citizenship but getting beehaw citizenship will have higher requirements. kbin is also open sign-up but not banned because it's users are more chill for some reason.

some of the first posts i see on kbin from other instances are about a major defederation lol. not ideal since this is happening when the fediverse is growing... but I suppose this is the intent behind the fediverse.
