It can in theory be stopped if Senators vote against it. Making that happen means having Senators fear that constituents will vote them out and seek their prosecution. If you live in the US, calling your senators a call and letting them know how mad you are at the Republican agenda might just help a little.

In particular, they're ignoring the Senate rules requiring a supermajority vote, and planning to claim they've taken away California's ability to regulate tailpipe pollution with a mere majority.

If you're an American, it's worth calling your senators and asking them to vote to preserve California's ability to impose stricter pollution controls — much of the country has historically adopted California's rules.

As usual, if you're an American, it's worth calling your senators and asking them to vote to preserve California's vehicle emissions standards; they're used by states which cover about half the country.

I'll note that the bill has yet to pass the Senate. If you're an American, call your Senators and ask them to vote against it.

Parts of what they are doing will.

Contrary to Mr. Trump’s statements, the crosses are not gravesites for farmers and were not permanently placed along the road. Footage posted to social media before the remembrance event, in early September 2020, shows people setting up the white crosses, and Google Street View images from 2023 indicate they have since been taken down.

...

South Africa has an exceptionally high murder rate, but police statistics do not show that white South Africans or farmers are more vulnerable to violent crime than other people.

Thanks for doing that!

It's technically possible for additional manufacturers to produce it, but making anything more sophisticated than the original smallpox vaccine is tough enough that you're not going to do it at home. The cold chain requirement for distribution means that it's unlikely that we're going to see an effective black market for vaccines either.

If he's elected and holds power again, Trump can play the same games he did with Adams, and use the threat of prosecution to force him to do his bidding.

Nah. They just want to impose decisions they think will harm minorities more on people

Not surprised. Pretty standard part of corporate PR efforts, and the value to Mobil of sponsoring Masterpiece Theatre decades ago is pretty well documented.

We still don't need people to be able to fire more bullets per minute. The risk/benefit for society is pretty clearly against allowing devices like that.

The question is what is most cost-effective at cutting emissions with a limited budget. I dont claim to known the right answer, but that's how I would decide if it was up to me.

I expect that the replacement won't be as willing to publish stories critical of Trump

Talk with people you know. Let them know what is going on. Call your congressmember. Visit your congressmembers district office. Get people organized to turn out and turn out others during the midterms next year.
