Half-Life Alyx did that to me several years ago. Amazingly, it ran acceptably on an RX 580, but that game combined with a then-recent monitor upgrade to 1440p high refresh rate convinced me to upgrade my graphics card.

The gemini links on the front page of that portal are good starting points.

ITAD's Augmented Steam browser add-on also shows you price comparisons on Steam store and wishlist pages.

Holiday sales are imminent. This is your opportunity to share how you manage your game wishlist. The wishlist could be on Steam, IsThereAnyDeal, Google Play, your brain, anywhere.

Some questions to prompt you:

  • How long is it?
  • What makes you wishlist something?
  • What makes you remove something?
  • How do you choose what do buy and when?
  • What wishlist game are you most anticipating getting?
  • Any interesting stories of how a game ended up on your list?

If you mean the formal spec document and other technical and implementation notes, that's geminiprotocol.net/docs, which is obviously also accessible on Gemini: gemini://geminiprotocol.net/docs/

You'd obviously need a Gemini client like Lagrange or (if you're lazy) a proxy service like portal.mozz.us. You can also find people talking about Gemini using the protocol itself.

I've played through Bits & Bops and I can confirm that there's also a "beat 7" minigame here

Bits & Bops on Steam

I backed this on Kickstarter a few years ago and I'm glad it made it past the finish line. I thought it was a bit telling that I received a Steam key a few weeks ago.

Probably by coincidence, another rhythm game, Rhythm Doctor, released just a few days ago. Apparently, these two games share code!

This is kind of old news that I only caught up on recently. Since October, Momentum Mod now has a publicly playable playtest, announced alonside their 0.10 update. I've been waiting to try this game out since I first heard it mentioned in a related project, Portal 2: Community Edition.

Momentum Mod is a standalone game aiming to be pretty much the greatest hits album of advanced Source Engine movement. It has game modes for the major categories, like rocket jumping, surfing, and bunnyhopping. It also has built-in speedrunning and practice tools, like automated timers and a meter that shows how well you're airstrafing.

It uses a highly modernized version of Source, now branded as Strata Source. Strata is also powering Portal Revolution and Portal 2: Community Edition.

For some visual interest, here's an embarrassing clip of me messing up in a beginner-level surf map.

Maybe you'd be interested in the Gemini protocol, a deliberately very simple and basic alternative to the web's HTTP.

I guess it depends on how you want to screw around. In A Short Hike, you can go fishing, which has no gameplay function. Or gliding around in air currents.

  • A Short Hike
  • Lil Gator Game

These two indie games, both set in a nature park, are more about enjoying their worlds than actually completing quests. With no quest tracker or map, you're free to roam around and talk to characters. Or just pick up sticks and swing them.
