Excellent diagram, which clearly shows the effects of Imperialism.

The majority of the labour and raw materials come from exploited and under-developed Global South countries (since of course coffee is largely produced in poor countries near the equator) while the vast majority of profits (and tax!) are claimed by Global North countries, in the example the UK.

If there was a more even balance of power, one would expect that the profits could be distributed on the basis of hours worked, acres of land needed etc. which would see much more profit in the hands of the growers.

Please convince me this is photoshopped before my brain explodes.

It's almost like... we have nothing to lose but our chains

Makes sense, AFAIK contract law works based on intent, verbal agreements can be binding contracts too.

Great post! We solve far too many problems (many of them are very much in the nice-to-have category) with our systems at my work, the systems get huge and difficult to change or maintain. I'm on a constant campaign to stop people building things we don't need, I'm definitely filling my senior role lol.

Yes I'm following Huak, it looks promising. But as Spott says, just because a tool exists, its not the same as having the tool which is fully supported, standardised and everyone uses.

IMO Python could have this but as the posted article discusses there is no movement or will to make it happen.

It would be interesting to hear what you mean about the lock file being updated. Many Poetry commands should and do touch the lock, like poetry add or poetry update, but of course poetry installshould leave it untouched.

Non-ideal conditions can be a reason for qualifying 4th rather than 2nd where he should be, there's just no excuse for not making Q3 in the fastest car.

Our organisation has gone all in on Poetry, no regrets so far. The UX and dlscoverability is just so much better than the other options.

I do look jealously at languages that have great official tools like go and cargo though.

It really feels like things are coming together now, I haven't heard anything about a launch date but maybe before the end of the year??

Looking forward to it, the Acorn to Arabella launch was a big success so I'm sure Tally Ho will go well.

Accuracy is fairly important, you can do it other ways than with a scale though. For example the aeropress comes with a coffee scoop you can use for measuring beans and numbers on the side for measuring water.

You can always get a scale later, and it doesn't need to be a fancy coffee scale, a normal kitchen one works.

P.S. If you do get an aeropress, check out this video from James Hoffman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6VlT_jUVPc
