Why? Is Saffron on your ship?! GEDDOUTATHERE!

Move fast, break things?

If only Mal had listened, it would have been a dull episode.

He's 8 months along, don't judge.

I'll take it, but do you take my insurance?

"Catspaw". I will fight you all on this hill. Spock's Brain led to some good parodies. Ref: Mike Carano directed a live show adaptation in LA that elevates the cheese. Glory to the House of Carano.

He was just wrecking that pie truck! The investigation isn't even complete.

I'm excited to see this grow, both as a ham operator and as a fedishitizen. My local FM/AM stinks and it's not just that it's 75% ads. I understand very well how slim the margins are for radio station owners. It's that most of the airwaves are empty.

You are the Cutter John we need to get us where we need to go. Banzai.

Thank you for communicating with Bloomies in advance about this. I will certainly follow to the new instance.

Noble tradition, noble cheese.

The prize for winning is the cheese that they're all chasing. She's just that committed to hurling herself down a hill for the pure love of the game, apparently

Surprisingly in depth article from USA Today on how federally recognized tribes can boot their own members and evict them from tribal housing. The Cherokee Nation took away citizenship and benefits to the Freedmen descendants, who took it all the way to the US Supreme Court and won their case. The Freedmen were reinstated as Cherokee Nation citizens, but the tension is still there. Startling similarities between the Nooksack 306 and the above.

Bringing Stalinism back into style through sculpture. Mountains of skulls not included.

Key figures in Russia’s publishing industry, including a director of one of Russia’s leading publishers, have been detained following a series of targeted raids by law enforcement. They are facing extremism charges, though the specific nature of these charges has not yet been disclosed. Among those arrested is Anatoly Norovyatkin, the longtime distribution director at Eksmo, as well as people associated with publishing houses acquired by Eksmo in 2023: Popcorn Books, known for its focus on queer young adult fiction, and Individuum, a non-fiction publishing imprint.

This is part of an exhibit on indigenous futurism at the Autry Museum of the American West, called Future Imaginaries. The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s very beautiful to see the stitches in person.

Here’s the information from the accompanying plaque:

Trek (Pleiades)

Marie Watt (Seneca Nation)

2014

Reclaimed wool blankets, satin binding, thread, and embroidery floss

The quilted pattern in Marie Watt's Trek (Pleiades) echoes the nine diamond-like formations found in some Native basketry designs. The number nine also corresponds to the nine brightest stars of the constellation Pleiades, which derives its name from the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology, who were transformed into stars by Zeus to avoid the hunter Orion's unwanted advances.

The Starship Enterprise, delicately embroidered over the diamond pattern, references both lengthy voyages found in Indigenous ancestral stories alongside modern space travel, each intersecting time and space, the historical and contemporary, the real and mythical.

Religion continues to play a significant role in shaping societies and public opinion, even among those who don’t follow a particular faith.

I captured this photo of a religious woman in Kyiv during the declaration of independence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

A few days later, a major Russian news outlet used the same image to claim that the Ukrainian church had ceased to exist.

It’s a small example of how symbols and narratives are often caught in the middle of larger political and cultural disputes.

(This is good news for people who trust Boeing more than medical workers. You can bring your own screwdriver.)

The serious narrative is shocking:

A Boeing mechanic failed to tighten the bolts on a door-size "cabin plug" that blew out on an Alaska Air 737Max flight. The aircraft had cabin pressure warnings onboard for some time, so instead of investigating/fixing, the airline simply 'restricted' the plane from 'long flights over water' so it could land quickly. No joke.

Is this the excuse China is seeking to invade? Hope not. Chinaisassho.
