This is dead on! 99% of the fucking job is digital plumbing so the whole thing doesn't blow the up when (a) there's a slight deviation from the "ideal" data you were expecting, or (b) the stakeholders wanna make changes at the last minute to a part of the app that seems benign but is actually the crumbling bedrock this entire legacy monstrosity was built upon. Both scenarios are equally likely.

Try a VPN to any EU country. I find that platforms can get really cooperative really fast when you wanna delete your account and they think GDPR applies

Unless you're already in the EU in which case you could try "Mine" (saymine.com) although it's been a minute and the AI stuff on their site does by fill me.with confidence

Sounds nice, where do i sign? :)

Oh look, I can see Norway from here

"I refuse to work in defense. I'd rather my work wasn't used to blow anyone up" is a line I've used in multiple job interviews. I like to think the hell I end up going to at least has chilly weather and/or really good AC.

The "here's how you keep doing this poorly but more efficiently" energy on display here is a refreshing change of pace from the usual "here's how you do this correctly" crap peddled by normies (including me). You have my respect.

I thought you were being serious as well. I've dealt with enough people who would genuinely make that argument so I assume nothing.

Effort or no, if an attacker can reasonably bypass it, it's not secure. That's why software gets security patches all the time, why encryption/hashing algorithms can fall out of favor, and why quantum computing can be pretty fucking scary.

The 7 Lives of Léa

Interesting French Netflix mini-series. Way better than it has any right to be considering its scale and I don't think it's gotten the attention it deserves.

I recommend watching in French with subtitles.

No, of course not. I was being sarcastic. I usually add a /s but this seemed obvious
