And the viruses that write themselves to the boot sectors of the hard drive?

Does anyone have an idea what would happen if one runs a Windows virus with Wine ?

Good, now make the engine open source Iike Carmack did for Doom 2 & 3 🤪

/s it will never happen as this game, although being great, is full of proprietary frameworks/3rd party libs.

The point was trying to make is that PC is often a second rate citizen in these collectors editions.

My guess is that if you're customer of these editions, you want a "beautiful" object full of goodies, and, as a collector item, you won't open them or use them anyway.

I guess this is the reason they started to make them without a version of game included these last few years.

This edition is available for Switch, PS5, Xbox > Series X/S and PC. The PC version, however, ships with a download code and not physical copies of both games. Preorders start on April 18 and end on May 18, with a release sometime after that.

For 666$, no physical game copy for the PC ?

I always find shitty when multiplatform deluxe limited editions are inferior on PC than on console, but here it's even worse: Doom 2 is THE PC game.

Yes the first dives in Dave the Diver are wonderful with the beautiful pixel art.

But I found this game deeply disturbing: you kill the most fish possible to make the most money possible, but not the dolphins because they are cute. I found this game is a perfect symbol of the overproductivism of our era, while the earth is dying. I know it's just a game, but the fact the game creator are not even aware of the philosophy their game is carrying, left a bitter taste in my mouth.

And yeah, the game is full of FOMO even in their dlcs, and the huge amount of collabs with other overly popular game make me think, in the end, it's a pure empty marketing vessel. An it's fake indie !

Dave the diver DLC is limited in time AND not free...Ouch ! I am glad I have lost interest in the game :)

I am playing 3 games in parallel:

  • Battlefield 4. Discovered only 2 months ago. The game is 10 years old and the server have, at best, only 2000 people in it 😂. But it is great and achievements hunting is fun, quick quick before the servers close !
  • Control. It feels like "x-files, the game". It's mysterious, confusing and after all, enjoyable. The art direction and the fights are great.
  • Gris, my small game for the evening. Not really started but it's the replacement for my previous small game The Gardens Between which was .....ok. Enjoyable and short.

Ah, and I have ordered my Steam Deck 🙈

There is a smart and funny french comic on this concept: "Imbattable" by Pascal Jousselin

The author plays with all the rules/codes of the European comics, one character can go through pages, another uses their speech "bubbles" as weapons, one uses the perspective of the objets, and the hero "Imbattable" can go through the page's frame.

Highly recommended !

https://docs.codeberg.org/getting-started/faq/#can-i-use-private-repositories-for-my-project?

Can I use private repositories for my project?

In many cases, yes, but please read on. Our goal is to support Free Content, and we do not act as a private hosting for everyone! However, if we see that you contribute to Free Software / Content and the ecosystem, we allow up to 100 MB of private content for your convenience. Further exceptions are spelled out in our Terms of Service:

Private repositories are only allowed for things required for FLOSS projects, like storing secrets, team-internal discussions or hiding projects from the public until they're ready for usage and/or contribution.

If you are still not sure if your usage is allowed or if you require a lot of private space for a Free Software project, please send us a formal request and we'll have a look.

So if you use a GitHub private repository to store some private data, e.g. your bash config or home server setup, Codeberg is not the right replacement. Any European alternatives?

When gog (or the publisher) delists a game, is it like on steam ? I.e. if you "own" the game before the delisting, you can still play it afterwards?

At first I found achievements a bit ridiculous, like in the old days at school where you received an image if you did good.

In the meantime, some smart achievements forced me out of my play style and made me try things I would never had the idea of trying. Those are the best achievements for me. The game with such achievements that triggered the achievement crazyneness of mine was Trine 2 😁

Thanks I'll have a look.

Unfortunately, my personal curse is the love of achievements 😅, and heroic support of them with GOG is still a little bit lacking. But with the new comet support with overlay in heroic, hopefully it will change soon.
