I think the complaint is that the start menu searches the Internet at all in the first place.

Some electric toothbrushes have these gimmicky features where they can map your mouth while you brush and report on your hygiene habits to tell you how effectively you're brushing, or even nag you if you don't brush enough. Guessing that's the kind they have.

So for the manufacturer, why allow the device to simply use a local account to track that information, when instead they can force you to register an account online and associate your brushing habits with all of the other shadowy telemetry data being collected about us online?

I wish my wife could play subnautica with me

Well she's too busy taking care of young Molly to be able to make the time. Maybe have Worf babysit?

Can we start a petition to move September/October/November/December to have September land where July currently is, and then current November and December become Undecember and Duodecember to make the numbers line up again?

How do we have all of these complete reversals in literacy and education over this span, but poverty remains a mess?

The "not in poverty" ratio has not even exceeded the "not in extreme poverty" numbers from the beginning. Really the only thing that has happened is that "extreme poverty" diminished in favor of just plain old "poverty", but the "not in poverty" numbers have not really kept pace.

And then the next year it'll just uncurl a bit and turn to show us its ass.

Jisho.org is a fairly helpful site for finding words like that. Sometimes you have to scroll a bit to find the "loanword" version of a term, but it helps with showing different nuances of translated words when looking them up.

Unfortunately I think it's EN-JP only, but helpful if you know the English word you want.

Mostly I didn't like the first season because it felt like a weird retread of the premise of Mass Effect. Never bothered watching anything beyond that.

Trying too hard to be gritty and serious, when the somewhat campier aspects of TNG are what originally sold me on that series.

TNG had its share of serious and deep plots, but the less serious, self-aware episodes are what give it character.

Just say "..., n" after a few numbers, done.

If you disinfect and cover, there should be no bacteria.

Dress the wound, change dressing routinely, reapply antiseptic when doing so.
