A place to discuss comic books of all types, from old to new, Big 2 to indie, and everything in between.

Floppies, graphic novels, compilations, omnibusses (omnibusi?) are all fair game.

There is only one rule:*

Comic Books is a no judgement zone.

You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.

If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.

* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(

I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.

I actually remembered this week! But I'm rushing at work and posting this during my morning constitutional so I'm gonna have to do this one quick-style! And I haven't picked up in a while my shop must be so mad lol. Let's see..

Exquisite Corpses #8

Sacrificers #18

w0rldtr33 #17

Looks like that's it for me! What're you pulling?

I haven't been feeling well so I've been slacking on the "new and notable" section.

It was weird getting to the shop and being surprised!

Stuff I'm checking out, you do you!

Assorted Crisis Events #7 - What happens to normal people in a world continually in crisis events?

Bad Idea: Ordained #1 (Of 3) - Bad Idea does good stuff and I'm a sucker for anything physical only. A lot harder to pirate something that doesn't have a digital edition.

Batman Gotham By Gaslight A League For Justice #6 (Of 6) - Finally putting a pin in the latest Gaslight adventure! What was originally a 12 issue run got split in half.

C.O.R.T. Children Of The Round Table #4 (Of 6) - Group of kids using weapons posessed by the spirits of Arthur and the round table. It sounds unhinged when I say it that way, it is!

EC Comics:
Shiver SuspenStories 2 #1 - Love the new EC!

Ghost Machine:
Geiger #19 - TBH, I'm behind, last we saw Tariq had been captured and was being tortured?

Finally sat down and read it... Interlude issue with the Glowing Woman, but it opens up a crossover with Redcoat and it looks like the next issue has the Northerner.

Edit Missed this on the list but the shop had it! Lone Wolf And Cub Deluxe Edition Volume 1 HC

This is a GLORIOUS reproduction of the first 16 chapters of the 142 chapter Lone Wolf and Cub saga.

Dark Horse did this previously as tiny paperbacks... 28 of them(!) This really nice hardcover reprints the first 2 and a half of them.

Next one comes out in March, so if we get one every 3 months it should be done in 3 years or so.

Spider-Man And Wolverine #8 - Wait, that's still going? I thought it was a 6 issue mini? Guess not!

Spirits Of Violence #3 (Of 5) - The various Ghost Riders (spirits of vengeance) team up against the spirits of violence.

Star Wars Han Solo Hunt For The Falcon #4 - I don't typically buy media adaptations of other media, but the tone of Han and Chewie looking for the lost Falcon just prior to the events of Force Awakens has been on point.

Ultimate Black Panther #23
Ultimate Spider-Man #23
- Getting near the end of the Ultimate runs I think? One more?

One of my favorite panels from one of my favorite reads.

Everything I was reading before has either concluded or is delayed, so I figured I'd pick up some collected volumes while I wait for new things to come out. I grabbed:

  • Saga
  • Watchmen
  • Blow Away
  • Absolute Batman
  • Astonishing Times

I hadn't heard of Blow Away or Astonishing Times before, but they were in the "50% off because they came out a few years ago" bin, and they looked interesting.

List is up! I've been really slacking on lists and pick ups these past few weeks, but let's see here..

Toxic Avenger Comics #5 - Still loving these dumb comics.

Geiger #18 - Damn 18 already? I'm at least 10 behind on reading, but they're sitting in a stack waiting for me!

Guess that's it for me today, what're y'all pulling?

Oh hey, I'm up late so I spotted the blog post almost right when it went out. (BTW there's a Mastodon account that posts these if you want to follow it, it's @comiclist@mastodon.social.)

So, what are you picking up this week?

After seven weeks (!!!) of no new releases, there's three for me this week:

  1. We're Taking Everyone Down With Us #6
  2. The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterfly #4
  3. Batman #162 (After being delayed by four months... I never thought this day would come.)

Woof. This sounds rough.

List is up! Let's see here..

Toxic Crusaders #2

Minor Arcana #11

Archie Vs. Minor Threats #3

Space Scouts #1

Tales Of Paranoia #1

That's it for me! What're y'all pulling?

Top: Justice League Unlimited #15, Supergirl #9, Superman #34 Bottom: Action Comics #1094, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #47, Superman Unlimited #9

Random article about it.

Full disclosure for the community here, apart from the occasional graphic novel or collected edition over the years, I haven't followed up to date stuff in years, like since I was a kid. I keep myself sustained with adaptations these days. Although I'm more tempted than ever to check out the Absolute runs.

I just came across this elsewhere and thought it was cool.

Daniel Warren Johnson is a fucking genius and I love him, never thought I'd live to see Batman break some dude's arm while they're doing the mustache man salute and then literally hit an One-Winged Angel on a corrupt cop and turn his head and spine into silly putty. Hope Chuck Dixon had an aneurysm from this, lol!

Issue is Absolute Batman Annual #1.

Today's Marvel Day and my local comic book store promised to get me my free comic last Saturday. He then tried to scam me into buying overpriced coffee and take part in a manga themed event in order to get my free Dr. Doom copy. I said that I will come next Saturday (which is today). He has planned another event but today and didn't even have the Dr. Doom comic even though he is listed on the official stores who are partaking in this event. Last year's Marvel Day he didn't want to give my friend a 2nd copy of the free X-Men comic and basically told me to piss off. I ordered manga there and my new Berserk manga that should be in a (at least) good condition came completely creased on each sides and some pages had small but recognizable tears you can call me everything you want but a new book should be at least 98% perfect (small imperfections are ok). He also didn't want to take it back and me me sign so much shit. I ordered a lot of comics (omnibusses) with Amazon and never had the same problem. I'm sorry to say that I'm no industry plant nor a Bezos fanboy (he can eat shit as far as I can care) but I never experienced the same with Amazon. I also order from comic book shops that are more than 150km away from me and they also deliver my comics in good condition. So for everyone who is kinda ashamed to buy from Amazon...just do it some local comic book shops don't deserve our good will.

Drawing Blood #9

I just binged millarworld, ngl I hated most of it, superior, starlight and huck were the main standout exceptions. I did like big game, felt like it retroactively made his previous books better and had a good ending. Not the biggest fan of the new huck (huck gets cucked) and nemesis books that have come after.

Not sure what to start next, was nice to have a reading order. Read the valiant universe 2012 reboot before this. Probably going to do marvel/dc next, tried to start with greenlantern after kickass to read something light at emerald city. A few issues later I hit the fridge and had to stop reading, not sure what's worse, that or what happens to katie in kickass.

List is up! Let's see here..

Endeavour #1 - Maybe, DSTLRY is usually good.

I Hate Fairyland #45 - I miss the old artist but it's still very good!

Lucky Devils #5 - This has been good so far, basically hell with an MLM structure, very funny, love the art.

Looks like that's it for me! What're you pulling?
