Intelligent dance music (commonly abbreviated as IDM) is a style of electronic music originating in the early 1990s, defined by idiosyncratic experimentation rather than specific genre constraints. It emerged from the culture and sound palette of electronic and rave music styles such as ambient techno, acid house, Detroit techno and breakbeat; it has been regarded as better suited to home listening than dancing. Prominent artists associated with it include Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares, Boards of Canada, Telefon Tel Aviv, ÎĽ-Ziq, the Black Dog, the Future Sound of London, and Luke Vibert.

I'm not sure why this album was on Analogical Force instead of Planet Mu but it's good

another Cylobian Sunday! I've also had the song "Cum To Me Baby" stuck in my head for a while lol, but I think the first track of the EP is the favorite by most people. If you like this style of Cylob also check out his release "Lobster Tracks" from the same year, I'll have to post one of those songs on some other Cylobian Sunday.

This song was also featured on 2003's Rephlexions compilation https://www.discogs.com/master/12211-Various-Rephlexions-An-Album-Of-Braindance

HN Discussion

Aphex Twin’s “Vordhosbn” just got a surprising video reveal, showing how the track was made. So let’s revisit trackers and 90s underground music culture.

I spent the last few days working on this. It features songs from a variety of µ-Ziq/Mike Paradinas releases to make an album that feels like the original Royal Astronomy. Let me know what you think!

Regular YouTube URL: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZIQTa_kwZhD1inUhb_lJYyU8Qjd_akod

YouTube Music URL: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZIQTa_kwZhD1inUhb_lJYyU8Qjd_akod

Basically my idea is...

  • The Fear Remixed=Scaling
  • Local Jogger=The Hwicci Song
  • Dirtwah=Autumn Acid
  • Lexicon=Slice
  • Off Lemon=Carpet Muncher
  • Hard Love=The Motorbike Track
  • My Piano & Me=Mentim
  • Not the Fear=The Fear
  • Morning Frolic=Gruber's Mandolin
  • Tugboat=World Of Leather
  • Perfame=Scrape
  • Orange Crumble=56
  • Grape Nut Beats 1=Burst Your Arm
  • Happy=Goodbye, Goodbye

And then a bonus, rougher approximation of Royal Astronomy

  • Robin Hood Gate=Scaling
  • Piriton=The Hwicci Song
  • Wergle the Proud=Autumn Acid
  • Epic Blista=Slice
  • Stop!=Carpet Muncher
  • Silk Ties=The Motorbike Track
  • My Mengegus=The Fear
  • Dancing Demons=Gruber's Mandolin
  • Housewife=World of Leather
  • Qisope=Scrape
  • It Starts With Bongos=56
  • Space Invaders=Burst Your Arm
  • Flicklife=Goodbye, Goodbye

Cylobian Sunday! Here's a track from Cylob Music System 3000 Volume 1, originally on Rephlex!

"Cylob Music System 3000" is a compilation of the two "Cylob Music System" EPs which first appeared on Rephlex in 2004, along with the four tracks released on the vinyl version of the "Spider Report" EP on Breakin'. The tracks were created using the first version of Cylob's self-made sequencing application, hence the name. Styles range from the heavy duty electronic funk of "Spider Report" and "Total Information Awareness", the twisted, detuned melodies of "Inseminoid" and "Chuckle Midget", bells and beats on "We Never Said Goodbye", and the heavy-duty 303 action on the appropriately named "Acid Inseminoid".

Check the playlist, this whole EP is great. But obviously Tundra 4 is legendary.

Cylobian Sunday!

"I Will Cross Any Bridge" is a new 14 track studio album marking Cylob's 30th year since his debut release. Developed from works in progress posted on SoundCloud over the last 18 months, the tracks encompass vocoder songs, abstract sonic exploration, acid in unusual time signatures and contemplative ambience in addition to some more straightforward analog jams.

completely wicked remix by Aphex Twin, also check the one before it, Flow Coma, both from "2 Remixes By AFX" https://www.discogs.com/master/2408-AFX-2-Remixes-By-AFX

Also #19 in this playlist, the remix of "Normal", I feel like goes along with these 2 even though it's not from the same release.

Happy Cylobian Sunday!

This release comprises a selection of 11 standalone tracks originally featured on the 2007 album "Trojan Fader Style", where they are used as part of an hour-long mix.

This is the song with the blowing into the microphone sounds lol.

Interesting that Aleksi has parts 1, 3, and "Part 00" on his Bandcamp, but not part 2? I think part 2 might be my favorite lol.

His album "Project V" is also similar and very good https://aleksiperala.bandcamp.com/album/project-v

A hidden gem from Mike Paradinas, during the era when he was majorly inspired by Hellfish (from about 2001 up to around the release of Bilious Paths in 2003)

Throwback Thursday! I feel like Hangable Auto Bulb is pretty underrated compared to his other mid-90s releases (I Care Because You Do, and the Richard D James Album)
