Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.

I'm trying to get the landscape figured out. I started with brown for the whole paper, but I forgot what I was going to do, and ended up making the grassy hills. I tried to get something going on the sky, it looks browner in the photo than the actual paper.

Good morning!

I started a youtube channel a few months ago, and have an ongoing series where I make short films of my walks. This one is the newest.

I don't normally post works in progress but I haven't drawn the last few days because I've been busy in the woodshop.

This is something vaguely in the style of Mucha and he loved to work in themes of nature. I'm going tropical on this one. So far I've learned that trying to freehand a Mucha style framing is a dumb idea and should never be attempted by anyone. Rulers, transfers, copy paste flips, etc would definitely be the easier way. And A5 paper is way too small for all but his basic motifes.

Micron 10, HB pencil.

Something a little closer to home. We lost my father in law last year, my Dad this year, our youngest has gone off the rails, our savings are shrinking, and I recently became a burn victim. But I'm trying...

Had to visit the burn unit yesterday, turns out burns keep getting worse for up to 72 hours. Hopefully scaring will be minimal.

Loved TMNT as a kid, the cartoon and movies. I've had a few of the graphic novels on my wishlist for a while. Maybe one day I'll get to them.

I crochet'd her a hat I can't find.

She's 8" tall and weighs less than 20g. Made completely out of corriedale wool, needlefelted.

Needlefelting uses specialized barbed needles that push the wool into a solid mass through stabbing about 3000 times. Some have reverse barbs, too, to make things fuzzier.

There are different needles, shapes, sizes and configurations but, with a little practice, anyone can make just about anything with a medium (36-38 gauge) one. There are even needle felting guns out there for avid felters who don't want rattlesnake wrists.

I don't know what the guages mean, but my favorite are small star-gauge.

Needlefelting is the best art hobby. It's low-barrier, can be done anywhere, and the versatility is ridiculous. I make framed art, jewelry, felted soap, scrubby cloths, figures, sculptures, like 300 cat toys and even plants for friends with allergies. I teach all-ages classes, too, where folks tell me it's the most relaxing art form they've tried.

I made this one just for me.

Felted... thing (infosec.pub)

Wet felted wool on a form I cut out of a reusable shopping bag, roughly 10" high x 10" long x 6" wide. Cotton embroidery floss and cheesecloth added for colour and texture, more visible on the other side, but I prefer this side. The dirtier green was dyed with peppermint. I used a mix of corriedale and unlabeled, rougher sheep wool I get in a giant discount bag. At least I think it came from a sheep...

Wet felting is the process of agitating wool with hot water and soap to get it to felt together, like when you accidentally toss a wool knit in the drier and it becomes a new sweater for your ferret, except intentional.

I made this to hold LED branches I use as a makeshift Saturnalia tree.

Io Saturnalia!

This is the first time I've actually painted anything using actual paint brushes since early middle school.
Bought a couple of supplies and just went for it.
Image on the left I wanted to do this thing I've recently found called "Bokeh art" but it looks more like weird bananas haha.
Image on the right is just "mountain".

The act of painting itself was frustrating but meditative. The paint, the brush, and the canvas did not interact in ways I had expected. I had watched some tutorials on acrylic painting prior, but not during the actual paint sesh.

It seems like the quickest way to get popular on DeviantArt is to draw sexy art. Not really my thing but I do like when my art gets attention. So maybe they will give Sexy Grinch attention! 🤣

I tried to improve my line quality, while I like the sketchy look of art I also like clean lines so I did a third pass with a larger brush and it turned out pretty well. Not sure the line weight is right but I'm happy with it overall.

P.S. I was trying to paint this when the InstaPot went for blood, maybe it was trying to stop me?

Acrylic on wood.

Not ready to share the whole painting. I added these lemons because the composition needed something to balance it and i was really happy with how they were coming out.

Last night, 2 am on my way to the bathroom, I glance at it in the dark and realize these lemons are life-sized - while the rest of the painting is double that. And they're in the foreground. So now I have to repaint them.

Heyo, for the uninitiated: I take videos of water samples with my microscope, write music to them, then edit the footage to fit the music.

Video

I drew this one surprisingly fast, took about 2, maybe 3 days on and off which is fast for me oops. I really like how the colours came out on this one, and how the gold for the rings came out. Gosh biblically accurate angels are so fun to draw. I'll never tire of them
