Propagated this arm a few months back and both sides are going back to throwing areoles for a bit. Bruce’s dragon is such a bizarre cutting

I repotted my cacti and messed up on the size on the first one. I will adjust that later. For now, I am trying to straighten out the etiolation and give these fellows some extra sun. I am also working on being a better cacti caregiver. I am relatively new to cacti keeping! Hope this is okay to post, happy to take feedback and comments on my collection.

I just noticed this seedling Eastern Prickly Pear in my little dish! It even still has its cotyldons!

I got some segments from a neighbor last summer and they had some fruits on them. I noticed a squirrel had taken a nibble out of one but I didn't think that any seeds had fallen out

This was last July.

There were seven flowers in total. Each flower opened just a few days at most. Some of them opened a few apart, so I had flowers to admire for about a week.

I trimmed the garden (grow tent) a few weeks back and some tips already started rooting. So I figured I’d take advantage of a nice day & get everybody in some soil. It is a well draining mix/substrate capped off with a little top soil.

So I’ve been chopping & prepping cacti for propagation and noticed this on the BD. I’m going to give it another week or 2 before cutting it now. Hopefully that will give them a better chance at rooting 🤞 idk if the left stalk is cresting or branching or what! So cool

I'll need to properly ID them later since they only have tags with their Japanese names, but I'm reasonably sure the top row from the left is a Leuchtenbergia, an Obregonia and a Crassula, and the bottom row is some kind of Gymnocalycium, a Haworthia, Blosfeldia liliputiana and another Haworthia.

The one on the left, with beautiful curved spines, is Gymnocalycium saglionis, and the other one, with white hair around spines is Pyrrhocactus floccosus, a pretty rare one (at least in Japan). Hope they like their new home!

They were all so purdy that I couldn't help myself. Surprisingly affordable too, even the bigger ones, which is always nice.

I posted about my grafted bois before here (I wish there was a way to share instance-agnostic links, maybe some day...), but I have an update - one of them decided recently that having another cactus forcibly implanted on top of it is not nearly enough, and he started sprouting all over the place! What a little overachiever, eh?

The first pic is unedited, and here's the version I played with a bit, what do you think, is it too much?

I think I might have gone overboard with the Aztekiums (first pic), but other ones look kinda nice to me. Still a lot to learn though, one day I might be able to show how pretty these are in real life!
