"The curious object was developed by Hakusi Katei, a Japanese materials engineer, and has a 16x16 pixel resolution. "From the initial concept through countless experiments, securing rights, mass production, and international shipping—it was a tough journey," writes Katei, who batch-produced a run of 700 units. He was rewarded: They sold out immediately."

"As a staple of photography studios and production sets, appleboxes are a supremely useful piece of kit. Typically made of ½" plywood, they serve as both stools and stepstools. They're durable, long-lived and easy to make. Here's one I inherited from an NYC studio on the left—you can see the years of use on it--and a newer one that I made out of plywood scraps. (If you have a pair, you can use them as sawhorses or trestles. They come in handy in a workshop.)"

"In the 6th century B.C.E., Aesop wrote more than 700 fables conveying moral messages through animal characters. Fifty-one of these featured a sly fox, usually characterized as both intelligent and deceptive, often conning other animals. Foxes have long symbolized adaptability, cunning, stealth, and deceit, providing us with a way to understand our own values, behaviors, and actions. "

"Everyone deserves to be represented in art. Furthermore, everyone deserves to be able to depict themselves in art. While painters and creators excel at mixing colors with professional supplies, kids shouldn't have to make do with the one bright pink and one brown crayon in the basic 16-count box. Although brands like Crayola have put in the effort to make skin-colored pigments more accessible to everyone, there's something special about an artisanal approach from someone who has had to deal with the lack of representation in art supplies firsthand. Sabine Joseph, a stay-at-home mom, had issues finding a beeswax crayon that her daughter could use to depict her grandmother's skin color. This inspired her to launch All of Us Art to offer handmade beeswax crayons that celebrate diversity."

"Although recycling paper uses less water than manufacturing the material from wood pulp, the process still requires significant energy and resources. The team behind Resketch has found a way to skip that step altogether."

Hi all! I'm applying for Creative Director roles and am looking for feedback on my portfolio alexandrabisono.com.

I'm specifically looking for thoughts on how the site presents me as a self-marketing tool. So not focusing so much on each individual piece of work but more about the content in the portfolio and its presentation. What is working well and what could be improved?

I appreciate your valuable feedback!

Not sure I'd side with the "designer" on this one, but an interesting origin story anyway
