I would like to share some device replacement stories. At the moment I use Freestyle Libre 3 and my daughter uses Dexcom G6.

I have used Freestyle Libre 1 and 2 before and for the first version they always wanted me to call a hotline, but I could convince them to allow me to just send an email with all the information they were asking at the hotline.

To replace a FSL2 they had an online form, which required a lot of information, but when filled out properly they sent an replacement.

When I need a replacement sensor for my current Freestyle Libre 3 I just have to fill out a form which asks me to enter the serial number and how long I have used the sensor. Sometimes they want the defective sensor back, but most of the time that's it.

On the contrast to get a Dexcom G6 replacement I have to fill out an online form which will not accept valid inputs (my mail address I successfully use for my Dexcom account is not accepted in the mail field). The form asks a lot of information (e.g. two different serial numbers). When filled out and submitted Dexcom then calls me (but not on the number I provided in the form) to confirm every entry I just did and ask some more questions. And the they send the replacement.

That is so annoying - even somewhat humiliating - and unnecessary. Obviously Abbott has looked at the success rates of their hotline and decided to just ask less questions and save a lot of money trying to catch the few fraudsters they prevented getting a replacement before. I am pretty sure they didn't do this because they were worried about me, but because they realized it would be cheaper to just skip this, but nonetheless it makes me a happier customer.

Do you have other replacement stories / policies you encountered and want to share?

Dear all

Just ordered my (first) trial Freestyle Libre attachment! I understand it's a v2 (flash) not a v3 (CGM). I don't think that they send v3 as trials.

Can I have any hints for anyone who has never used anything like that, please.

I think I saw that people use a bandage like thing to help keep it on, but hints about simple things like where to put it and showering/bathing would also be appreciated.

Thank-you in advance.

One thing I really struggle with is managing my eating. Food has always been difficult for me. When I'm dieting, I can pretty much shed weight without issue, but when I'm not, or when I'm feeling low (which happens a lot now) I tend to just throw myself against the wall and eat what I know I love. Which brings me to this: What are your favourite diabetic-friendly snacks?

Okay. So I'm fairly new to this whole Diabetes thing and I was wondering if anyone could answer this question....

Why do I always feel tired?

For context. I think I've got some aggravating factors. I worked overnights for 15 years, so my body clock is...well, f*cked. I've also got two young kids, one of which is still yet to sleep through the night and as yet, sleeps in Mums bed, meaning I've been sleeping on the sofa, which likely doesn't help with how well I sleep.

All this taken into consideration; is it normal to feel this constantly ready for a nap?

My Endo just started me on Ozempic. I'm a type 2, 42 years old and I've been in the low 7s for my A1C for the last 6 months with using metformin, Jardinace, glipizide, and moderate exercise and diet changes. I am about 30 pounds over weight as well and have been having a horrible time losing any weight at all.

Anyway, I'm starting at a 0.25mg dose for four weeks then moving to the therapeutic dose of 0.5mg after, and even now while starting the 0.25mg dose, I really have no desire to eat. It's like a switch was flipped. Before, I was thinking about what to eat next constantly, was basically food fixated, and now I couldn't care less. Maybe it's partly a placebo effect, but hopefully not.

Anyway, just wanted to share my starting experiences with Ozempic. I'll come back and update as I go along with this medication. Thanks for reading!

Okay so I found out I was diabetic last year and for the most part I've done pretty well at managing it, and getting my numbers down. However I've always felt very..... lathargic, especially in the mornings.

The fact that I'm awake at 4:30 am for work, and haven't slept a solid night sleep in 16 months (baby) doesn't help, but yeah...always tired.

Until yesterday when I had some sugar free chewing gum at work. The difference was night and day. I'm usually yawning every 3-4 minutes, but with the gum I felt almost reborn.

So I guess I'm wondering....wtf?

A patient was asked to debate a doctor on whether do-it-yourself automated insulin delivery is still needed now that DIY AID is becoming more commercially available.

Personally, I will always advocate for patient empowerment. It's my disease, and I should be able to treat or deal with it how I want.

Until Lemmy gets a flair system, I thought we could share our diabetes equipment in this thread.

My stuff for T1:

  • Dexcom G6
  • TSlim X2
  • Novolog

I just had to call my endo to change my insulin to Novolog because my insurance decided they like it better. This is after the same insurance switched me to Humalog late last year.

I'll never understand insurance companies.

Just recently released in the US, but my pump (TSlim X2) doesn't work with it yet 😭.

Is anyone using it yet, and if so, how has it been compared to your previous CGM?
