I loved this album when I first heard it. As a teen feeling confused feelings about their gender and sexuality, it was really affirming to hear this kind of music by someone who was very openly nonbinary (although I don't think I was aware of the term back then).

I'm glad they're still making music, and I'm looking forward to diving back into their discography.

idk much about the people who made this: https://linktr.ee/earfeeder

It focuses on albums early- to mid-80s, which is why no Ministry, NIN, etc. This was an Insta post, where they say "We’ve omitted Industrial Rock and Industrial Metal albums from this starter guide as there will be a dedicated post covering these 2 genres."

cross-posted from: !diy@slrpnk.net - check out that community for various projects and building/fixing stuff. In this case they were going for a LOTR/Mordor vibe but totally nailed a gothic aesthetic.

original text by @grober_Unfug@discuss.tchncs.de :

I felt like some kind of “what would a Christmas tree in Mordor look like” vibe. So I made one. My first attempt at a tiny bit of “terrain building”, with a very limited colour palette: black and grey.

Another release this year! And better yet. Perfect gothmas music. Mr. Jinglehorse is my favorite of the two.

Yeah they refer to their style as "cum metal". Music is serious business folks!

I've really enjoyed their last 3-4 releases and this doesn't stray far from that sound.

MaryDeath is a comic about life, death, and everything in between. The story follows a young girl named Mary who happens to have befriended Death. Why Death has chosen to take interest in Mary remains a mystery, but despite his ever dark presence Mary finds comfort in his companionship.

MaryDeath Comics was created in the 2010s by Gwen Tarpley. The artist transitioned recently, but it seems they don’t mind their deadname being on their older comics (i.e. it was used on some of the recent posts of their Cats Cafe comic, which is their main effort now.)

Electropop/darkwave, 2023

LEATHERS is the electro-pop project of Canadian musician and visual artist, Shannon Hemmett (also the keyboardist of acclaimed Vancouver post punk band ACTORS).

track link: https://leathers.bandcamp.com/track/highrise

You live in a highrise
No birds or butterflies
Live beyond your means
Like you always dreamed
In a room painted gallery white
Isn't it nice?
This 21st century life
Cool as concrete
Naked on the balcony
Sleepless in the pale moonlight
You only go out at night
Isn't it nice
In your highrise
Like a page from a magazine
That's come to life
In your highrise
Isn't it nice
Living your best life
You're never satisfied
From the penthouse floor
A soft-core voyeur
Undress me with your eyes
What's not to love?
Up in the sky
Flying first-class
Between cities made of glass
Your love affair with vanity
So easy to excite
Isn't it nice
In your highrise
Like a page from a magazine
That's come to life
Isn't it nice
In your highrise
Isn't it nice

This group is interesting. I can't say that I like the growling though. Some nice dark electronic things going on here. Let me know what you think.

Not bad, I'd like more of this.
