It's seems right that we should have a local community to help us all with PieFed

Hi,

I am subscribed to a lot of communities.
I want to leave a lot of them.
Is there a way to easily select all the communities I want to leave?
Now I do it one by one, but this is a lot of work.

I would love to hear how to do this in bulk.

Thanks.

Currently getting familiar with PieFed as my new main platform after using Lemmy for more than 2 years.

I was missing the New Comments filter from Lemmy that shows you posts that had recent comments.

After some digging on Codeberg, I found this issue and found out that the Active sort on PieFed shows you posts with recent comments.

tl;dr New Comments on Lemmy is Active on PieFed

Edit2: Solved per wjs018's comment

Specifically !12ozmouse@adultswim.fan. I can tell the instance is federated because !adultswim@adultswim.fan shows up.

On Lemmy I'd run into this issue, and usually could use the community search and try searching in a few different formats to get it to show up eventually, but I wasn't able to get that to work here. I tried searching the link above, as well as the link without the !, the display name, and the full URL (https://adultswim.fan/c/12ozmouse), but these didn't work.

Is there any trick to doing this?

Edit: I was able to resolve my issue by making this post, because the link that appeared let me join. But I'd still like to know a general solution that doesn't involve finding or making a post with the link (the post preview didn't turn it into a link so I had to actually make the post for it to work).

Is signing up with email forced by devs? I would like to sign up for piedfed but I don't like to include my email for, well, anything psuedo-anonymouse like social networking. I haven't been able to find any instances that don't require email (my preferred is piefed.ca)

Why is the piefed.social icon LGTB themed? Can we change this? o.o

I have an account on piefed under the same name, and I can't upvote posts, view comments or interact in any way as of three hours ago. When I tried to post, there was an error message that said 'UsedMemory > AvailableMemory'. It's happening when I tried it in a Private window as well. Is Piefed down?

Came to PieFed.social from Lemm.ee about a month ago. Currently only using PieFed on my desktop because my brief Android client search gave me a non-working app.

I normally sort by Top 12 Hours and on my phone (Lemmy Connect logged into sh.itjust.works) I can see NSFW post once I get down to posts with less than 100 upvotes. Using PieFed.social on my desktop I don't see them. I checked settings but nothing popped out to me.

What am I missing?

Hi all, I just posted in one community and now I want to cross post that into another.

Is there a right way to do that? I'm not seeing any ui elements for this.

I'm on the default piefed.social web mobile UI, if that helps. Thanks!

I exported my settings from a Lemmy instance running v 0.19.11, and it seems that the import doesn't bring in anything (subscriptions, blocks, etc.). Does Piefed use a different JSON schema or is it just not possible to import from Lemmy into Piefed? I have tried importing multiple times, waited a few days, and still nothing.

Having issues with all iOS app clients, both App Store and TestFlight versions. iOS is latest version.

I’m unable to login via any clients.

I had no issues with Voyager yesterday. I was able to browse, vote, and join/remove communities. This morning, I couldn’t see any communities and the feed looked the same as yesterday.

I logged out of Piefed in Voyager, and now I can’t log back in. I keep getting incorrect password if I use my username/password, and connection problem if I use my email and password.

I tried Mlem and Blorp, and both tell me incorrect username/password. I am able to log into web just fine via Safari and Orion.

I tried with and without VPN, and I’m not using WiFi.

I don’t know if it’s related to the human check as posted a couple of hours ago, but it kind of feels like it might be.

EDIT: I just found this logged issue. My username has an uppercase Z, so it would break my login?

Thanks!!

Hi! I just came over from lemmy, and upon importing my settings, my settings page got populated with my list of blocked communities as expected. However, when browsing all, I can see posts from those blocked communities there. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

I'm trying out starting a new community.

I wanted to crosspost some posts I already made elsewhere, e.g. https://piefed.social/post/984528 / https://lemmy.ca/post/46999890

But there's no crosspost button.

  1. Is there a way to do it?
  2. And I'm curious: why is there no crosspost button for so many posts?

When using the 'migrate tool,' I don't seem to be seeing a 'closing message' as I'd hoped, but maybe the form isn't set up to give me one? Eh, whatever. So then, here's an extra confirmation attempt to make it clear that I'm asking PF to migrate my classic Lemm.ee community over to PF, as follows:

https://lemm.ee/c/eurographicnovels
wants to turn in to:
https://piefed.social/c/eurographicnovels

With the specific request post being here:
https://lemm.ee/post/67797135

Thanks for any and all help getting it sorted, <3
Johnny

I have a post I made from Piefed and someone suggested I cross post to another spot. I can't seem to figure out how to crosspost in PieFed though. Is there a way or is that not yet implemented?

Regardless, Piefed is amazing and thank you so much to everyone here! :-)

I attempted to set up the project on a new yunohost server and got the folowing:

$ docker compose up
[+] Running 2/2
 ✔ Container pyfedi-redis-1 Running 0.0s
 ✔ Container piefed_celery1 Running 0.0s
Attaching to piefed_app1, piefed_celery1, adminer-1, db-1, redis-1

Gracefully stopping... (press Ctrl+C again to force)

I made sure that the port 8080 was open before running. And its running other applications no problem. Is it because I used docker compose up and not docker-compose up?

I was following the instructions here (https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/src/branch/main/INSTALL.md#cdn) about adding Cloudflare tokens. I am unsure where to find the API token for CLOUDFLARE_ZONE_ID. The only things I am seeing are Global API Key and Origin CA Key and I was wondering if it's one of those now. It seems like Cloudflare is constantly changing and moving things which gets confusing sometimes.

I've been writing up an installation guide for docker installs that's hopefully a bit more straight forward for new comers. It includes setting up a Cloudflare tunnel and I would like to add this in too.
