Hi, I'm having a problem with my qBittorrent setup that I can't quite debug or find information on.

I'm seeding from a hard drive and I get something like 5-15 MBps of seeding capacity depending on the day. However I noticed upon inspecting a system monitor (I am running Debian 13) the total disk IO read was about 4x the seeding speed.

I've tweaked the advanced settings all I can to no avail. I am using the version of QBit from Devian 13 main. It's 5.Something.

Would anyone have insight on this problem? I'll take anything at this point. The application is using about 250MB of RAM.

I would like to move away from using spotify for music. Are there any torrenting sites where I can torrent music with high quality audio (~320kbps) tagged properly?

My country never cared about this, but recently some people started getting fines. I generally pay for my games; I only use ReVanced and watch TV shows online.

What would be the cheapest VPN in the long run for this? As I said, I don't torrent, so port forwarding and stuff like that I don't care about.

There's also antimalware software bundled with the M365 subscription on Amazon; I've been using the VPN from that for a bit now.

Edit: Btw, do you think an antimalware VPN is safe? It's never been a problem (never like the USA, for example) over here in the EU, but recently they started slightly hunting pirates (never heard of anyone I know though). So yeah, maybe a simple VPN may suffice until they decide to go hardcore style?

Basically in a course I am taking, I have to find global challenges and implications of a digital topic. So we turned to piracy in the end because it has been here for a while (and lets face it, I was biased and its my favorite topic.) and has its qualities and some drawbacks which need to be discussed in a topic like that. With the rise of streaming services and enshitification of most things we know of, Piracy has crawled out of the shadows and become less niche and more a valid option.

I would love if you all can give my some of your opinions on it. Any documentations, reads or articles and some valid points to help to discuss with my group (they are not all tech nerds ...)

OFC we will discuss the issues of services today, why piracy has slowed with the rise of streaming services (and back up ahahah). We will discuss that piracy helps in a way to preserve data, culture etc. The good and the bad of it. Impact of piracy in the creative goods sector in sciences. What governments do to counter piracy...

So really any stat that is justified of course, any reasons to do so (is it more convenient?? Is it due to censorship in your country or limited access to information?? DRM ?? Monopoly no other alternatives??...)

At present, I have limited disk space for my media library, so occasionally I must purge content I've already watched or acquired long ago but never watched. I'm big into letting my winners run, so when choosing which content to purge, I want to just sort by Ratio in qBittorrent and start purging anything older than 30 days that isn't getting uploads. The problem is, more often than not I'm cross seeding the same content across multiple trackers, so although a specific torrent on a specific trackers may be performing poorly, that doesn't mean the same content isn't performing well on another tracker.

I know how to select, right click, and Copy > Name. Is there a way to export the grid view so that I can do some data manipulation in LibreCalc?

I've searched and stumbled upon this thread from over a year ago where it appears the OP is attempting something similar. I don't mind getting my hands dirty with the web UI and/or the API, but since I'm not a developer, I thought I'd check w/ the community before I go that route. Also, one of the commenters in the other thread that I linked mentions parsing the save data directly - are they talking about parsing the fastresume files or something else? Thanks!

It seems that we're getting close to a leak. Pokemon project has an update file available and from what I've seen, some people have game dumps but no one wants to leak it yet.

But when I follow the install instructions and run the commands in Terminal, it only gives me the option to install "Acrobat Platform: macuniversal - 22.003.20310.7" through 25.001.20756.7.

Adobe Zii then gives me the Warning that it doesnt support the matched version 21.007.20091.

I'm guessing that if I get a copy of the right version it will work, but, how?

All these open source options seem to only do the first 60 seconds. What out there can batch do this automatically? I could just rip them in audacity but I'd get a quality drop, which will still be better than the microphone quality video recording I am trying to drop them over.

Am I manually going to have to record each file with audacity which will be a time consuming pita or is there a way to batch download a play list for free?

I have my Linux box running my TV and it works great, but I'd like the ability to treat my Chromecast as a desktop window for streaming without switching inputs, multitasking etc. I have an HDMI capture card that works great with a Switch, but the Chromecast detects it's not HDCP (DRM) compliant so it won't work. Is there a way to outsmart that detection with software or hardware?

I've heard some knock off hardware confuses it enough to work but it seems like the info is old and I'd rather not roll the dice on hardware that's otherwise garbage...

The replacement they suggested in app is region locked. Can anyone suggest an alternative please?

I used to use gaytorrents. They have the content and forums and it’s a nice little community. However, it’s suspicious they aren’t trying to prepare for the censorship hitting all other adult sites. They flat out stated in the forums they will not adopt i2p or tor or any other darknet and will start using age verification/start banning IP ranges when requested. If we don’t like it, we are told to just use a VPN.

This is an incredibly dumb response.

So I need to plan my migration away while there is still enough open conversation to discover new places. My state already bans porn unless we hand over our IDs to be handled irresponsibly/given to identity thieves/added to a list of undesirable people they want to toss into a gas chamber.

Under this regime, I’m not giving that out. Fuck them.

There are these 3 books about dressmaking that are very out of print.

In English it took me 2 minutes to find them, but in Spanish there's not a trace and I know for sure that for at least the first two there are PDFs floating around somewhere.

All this made me realise that when I'm looking stuff in Spanish I don't have any idea on where to look.

Edit: Thanks, I learned a lot. Unfortunately that book I'm looking for is nowhere, at least in Spanish. But not all is lost, apparently there's a public library at a 30 minutes drive from home that has it, I could go borrow it and scan it myself.

What are my options for emulating Xbox or PS5 games on PC, preferably Linux, if there are any good?

My next problem would be acquiring NHL25 rom or whatever it’s called these days. I’ve been out of the piracy loop for a few years, but a relative wants to play that specific game and doesn’t feel like shelling out cash for a console.

Any ideas as to a site with the Bitmap Books catalog? I've gotten the few there are on places like MAM, etc, but missing a lot. Specifically trying to find The GBA Pixel Book. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Recent reports have announced that Crunchyroll, the largest anime streaming service, will be replacing Aegisub with Israeli Software, OOONA, to produce subtitles more efficiently. Anime fans across the world are disappointed with this collaboration due to Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians (via a report by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry).

Crunchyroll is also ignoring the needs of groups who require Closed Captions to understand the scenes better. They are isolating a large chunk of their audience in favor of AI-based subtitling, which defeats the point of a streaming service. Overall, this hasn’t been a great year for Crunchyroll, and this won’t be the end of it.

I am currently searching for decent mattress and open up Which? post about best Mattress. Only problem is that the information is locked under it's subscription wall.
