Hey everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone that this space is open for ALL of us to share our thoughts, experiences, and discussions. As the creator and a mod here, I want to assure you that there is no gatekeeping. Everyone, whether you're a user or a fellow mod, is encouraged to post freely.

I've noticed that I'm often the only one posting, and while there ARE comments, it would be wonderful to see more activity from all of you. Your voices and perspectives are what make this community vibrant, so don't hesitate to start a conversation or share something you think is important.

Let's work together to make this space as lively and supportive as it can be!

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing more posts!

If you live on North America, you can assemble this kit for less money than Nintendo Switch 2, which I think is basically a less good Steam Deck. Why is it so much bulkier than Switch 1? Ugh!

Anyway:

3a Vest This is slightly visible under a buttoned blouse, but most people don't clock it. It is invisible under a light jacket 🥶 . This will give you an appropriate amount of protection at most American MCEs and police riots. D&D 3.5 AC 14. $240 USD.

Rescue Gloves These aren't my favs but these are good and they are in stock. These kind of gloves are good for basically any emergency, and also normal camping. $44

French Tough Guy Helmet This bad boy will keep your head on pretty good. It's not the newest, best helmet tech. But it is a steel helmet with a decent strap and liner for $49. (They are in stock at the shops and get back in stock online often.)

Ze Goggles! Doesn't have to be this pair, but this is what you're looking for. Impact resistant. $12 ain't bad but you can shop around based on your eyewear situation.

Ugly Earplugs Just like the ones at work, if you have ever worked somewhere OSHA compliant. See how they got Db -25 or whatever? That or better if you think somebody is going to be shooting near you, or setting off fireworks near you. -25 will not stop sonic weapons, mind you. $8.

With shipping this wipes the budgie. But now, look at all the REAL WORLD SITUATIONS you are equipped to more likely survive:

  • American school
  • American festivals
  • concerts in America
  • meeting Americans
  • going to an appointment in America
  • if you are on a boat that is disliked by America's creepy allies
  • camping

Also smart stop the bleed

fuckin' switch 2, whys it so spensive

The author announced in a Saturday post to X, formerly Twitter, that she would be founding the J.K. Rowling Women's Fund, using her personal fortune. The website for the group states that it "offers legal funding support to individuals and organisations fighting to retain women's sex-based rights in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces."

"I looked into all options and a private fund is the most efficient, streamlined way for me to do this," she said. "Lots of people are offering to contribute, which I truly appreciate, but there are many other women's rights orgs that could do with the money, so donate away, just not to me!"

Note: This isn’t an exact all, but a collection of very similar repeating patterns. And while I might be looking around those that happen to mostly be white, cisgender gay men, they can exist in any queer demographic, as “Pick Me” mfs pretty much exist in every type of demographic.

Some time back, there was a post I saw about someone asking about Log Cabin Republicans, and as the post and comments went it made me wonder about this other kind I saw. Usually with Log Cabin Republicans, they try to hide anything queer-coded and will stay on the sideline quietly. For the kind I notice, while they also support the status quo and bootlick their oppressors, they’ll try to be all open and proud about it. In addition, they’ll double down on queer stereotypes and get OVERLY obnoxious with it, almost like denial.

With how they usually treat other queer minorities, it’s usually:

  • Mock and berate lesbians
  • Demonize and (ironically) slut-shame bi/pan men and women
  • Treat trans-women like they’re crossdressing gay men or drag queens (transfolk can be drag queens, but you get what I mean)
  • With transgender people in general, when they’re not mocking and berating them, they’re treated like some sort of pet on display
  • For racial minorities (and in general people that aren’t white, especially those that are queer), they really double down on the racism. Even with “positive” intentions, they view them like some sort of freak in a freak show.
  • A bit unrelated, but I also sometimes notice how with cisgender, straight (typically white) women, they either will go full woman-hating misogyny, or act like they’re the greatest thing in the world, no in-betweens. Just a pattern I noticed.

And while they aren’t as huge/common like in the 90s-00s, they still have a lot of influence. Speaking of influence, they seemed back then to really be more amongst circles of queer tv writers and creators. Ryan Murphy, to some extent Marc Cherry, creators of Sex and the City, etc., but usually they get away with their shitty behavior on the count of being “revolutionary” or just a “product of their time”.

The ultimate reason I ask about this is because of the distinction. While a Log Cabin Republican typically would stand on the sideline quietly, this kind of Pick-Me will try to act like they’re all open and proud, but like being proud of being underneath and wanting to be recognized as accepting their role in society as being lesser. What would this kind be called?

This article is from before the actions happened, I'm sharing this one because it's well written and touches on the points we consider most important: intersectionality and solidarity. Also we forgot to plan a post action media release for my city and got absolutely no media attention after the fact oops (except for community radio ♥️♥️♥️3CR❤️❤️❤️).

It's worth noting that this approach was so overwhelmingly successful that the rally in my city ended up being several times larger than anything we'd anticipated, 3000+ attendees at the peak. If you're looking at organising a radical campaign like this, use your contacts and ask your allies to mobilise, it's incredibly powerful stuff and builds power for their movements as well.

The discussion on mainstream queer activism being inadequate and toxic is very important and worth understanding in detail. You can't build a lasting movement or obtain liberation by throwing minorities under the bus and capitulating to oppressive patriarchal norms that reinforce harmful stereotypes and gender roles.

We've experienced this first hand. The day after the rally, an NGO announced their own action appropriating the name we chose and on the same day as a rally for refugees. They silenced all critiques, spat in the face of what we stood for and even claimed they organised one of the rallies in another city. They also have history of silencing the voices and efforts of trans people (especially from other marginalised groups) while platforming the politicians who pass legislation to suppress and erase us. It's been absolutely awful to deal with, but you cannot be complicit in it.
