Hey guys, i wrote this comment yesterday in an unrelated community. Perhaps someone here has an idea what i am looking for:

This reminds me of a project I saw some years ago, it was AR glasses with just a monochrome display that would project into the eye itself, adjusted to the individual user by an optometrist.

It was less ambitious than the other projects at the time on what it would be able to display, but this had the distinct advantage of being extremely power efficient and lightweight, allowing the system to fit into a normal glasses form factor.

It also looked cyberpunk as fuck with the user having a glowing red dot in one of his eyes during use, at least to everyone else. I tried a bunch of times to google for what ever has become of it, because I was very interested in the concept as a wearer of glasses.

Does anyone by any chance know what I'm talking about? This would have been in the early to mid 2010s.

TLDR: Want my cyberpunk glasses. Pls halp

Thanks in advance 🙂

I remember an lrr video in which the actors played US-American versions of themselves or their characters (it could have been commodore hustle or Friday Nights), but I can’t find it anywhere. I remember Kathleen was either Katherine or Katie (or either of the various spellings of those two), and I think there was a joke about Graham’s name being one syllable (but I could be conflating this with another video).

Hello! I was wondering if any of you know if there is also a community dedicated to finding songs that you just can't remember. I remember there being one, but can't find it anymore.

Thanks in advance!

I remember from the movie some type of traditional building from asian culture where they had a zen garden with sand and theese stacked rocks that had bits of yellow/orange glow in them and one night they are either vandalised or attacked and vandalised and the stacked glowing rocks where toppled over

The movie was 3D animated

It would be funny if this ends up being an unremarkable movie.

The image has stuck in my mind for what must be two decades now. Is this familiar to anyone? And should I even bother watching it? We all know of movies that peak at the moment you notice the poster, so...

Edit: Found it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_NRBkJtNAI&t=214s

it goes something like:

"'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?' read my {nametag/business card} buddy!"

and then it shows their nametag or business card and it says B. Holder on it

I remember several years ago, I saw a 3-5 part comedic rap series on YouTube about a guy's journey to rehome a male duck (a "drake") that he randomly came into possession of, but I can't seem to find it no matter what I search. Unfortunately, since the songs are about an actual drake, as opposed to Drake, google doesn't want to play nice when using that term paired with the word "rap".

I actually remember a decent number of specific details and can picture it so easily in my head, but it's not getting me anywhere. It's a white guy (possibly from New York?) who wear glasses. He comes into possession of this duck he can't really take care of (part 1? Don't remember how), so he calls around to different animal refuges to see if they'd want to take him, but he gets told that male ducks are sexually aggressive and therefore most places wouldn't take him (part 2?), eventually he finds some hippy lady who seems oddly enthusiastic about receiving the duck, even after being informed the duck was a bit of a bully (part 3?). I think there may have been a concluding song as well and it's possible I missed a part.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? It probably wasn't super famous, so maybe not.

I remember playing a web game about surviving in the arctic, I think. It was a turn-based grid-based roguelike. We needed to find clothes, food and observe the sun movements to find our route to safety. The graphics were very simple. As far as I remember, there were no combat and survival was very hard, with hunger and hypothermia being common threats.

Has anyone else played it? I don't remember the name and can't find it anymore.

Recently read an article, can't pronouse the word for the life of me not can I find the articles. The word was something like Patriot something..

The tldr of the old government form that was basically obsolete was all power controlled by one guy, basically a postmodern king of sorts.

It's garbage but yeah...what's the word?

Edit: it's Patrimonialism - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrimonialism

Hey, I'm wondering that game this is? It's part of this video, the link should start at the time the game is shown:

https://youtu.be/o6t3zdIQgYg?t=158

If it doesn't, the game is shown from 2:38 to 2:44

I tried asking in the comments for the video but my comment gets deleted now matter what it type... really weird.

I remember reading an article, I think on a substack site, about how the author expected (I think) the rise of facism in the US but not being lead by such pathetic losers?/nerds?/geeks?. I can't seem to find the article but it was funny and relatable and I really want to find the link again.

It might have also been an article on The Verge, 404media or maybe Vice too

cross-posted from: https://lemm.ee/post/56097355

I've seen a few of his videos and i'm wondering what background songs he uses. I've found most of them except for this one specific song (maybe i just didn't look up well enough).

You can hear it in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGzWo6m68zo

It's the background song just after the intro (starting at about 3 or 4 seconds)

Thanks in advance for the help :)

EDIT: I found it, it’s Fra Mauro Crater by HOME. Link: https://soundcloud.com/home-archive4/home-unnamed-song-23

I basically made a small script with yt-dlp to scrape the youtube comments and look for anyone else that asked what the song is and periodically checked if anyone answered

All of this would’ve been avoided if i just sent an email to Tyler or if i just checked HOME’s soundcloud more carefully but whatever

I have seen it in 2023, it was a post that contained a image of statistics of how many people are named after one of the twelve Olympian gods. The image of the post had a bar chart composing of the colors red and blue, with the Greek names of the Olympians on one side of the chart, and the Roman names on another.

the movie was from the 2010s or earlier, the movie also seemed to parody/feature characters such as snow white

one of the characters had prominent front teeth.

I was going to make a community like this on Lemmy, it’s like if someone had the username shitballs69 but posted actual helpful advice

There's no XO / Executive Officer character in the cast list, and I've searched the character's lines but nothing much comes up except for a Cinema Fanatics article that points to Tom Berenger. It does look like him, but Berenger is the marine recruiter at the start of the movie per the cast list. Is it him playing the XO as well later in the movie, or someone else?

It was a meme where the title of the post was "cybersecurity in a nutshell"

It was about a king considering firing his wizard

"I haven't been attacked in awhile, maybe I should fire my wizard"

then the wizard responds "bitch, who do you think cast the circle of protection?"

all text, no images

I've seen the quote a lot.

A few days ago, I was recommended one of her videos but didn't really watch it then... Now I just feel like checking her channel out again, but its name has escaped my head. From my memory (may be incorrect), the video came out recently (not more than a couple of months ago I guess), and it was about how differences in the way some Nvidia GPUs were constructed caused them to overheat.

Other points:

  • She's white (probably American or Canadian).
  • I remember her having a Wikitubia page, but I may be misremembering.
  • When searching up the name of her channel, one of the suggestions is "Is [her name] trans?" None of the results give an answer.
  • She might have been posted somewhere here on Lemmy before.

"Artistic ______"???

Not really much to go off of here. I feel like I recall some kind of upper class manor/hotel/castle at the start of the movie and some kind of change occurring. Maybe some kind of social revolution or people mutating. I recall an airship with some kind of scientists on board. I think the protagonist was a woman possibly looking for her son.

I say it's like Fantastic Planet but it might not be fully animated. It could be something a long the lines of human actors with heavy amounts of CG or just very out there sets.

Solved: It was The Congress (2013). A bit harder to find because not all of the movie is animated. The change I mentioned was about 1/3 into the movie after the transition to animation.

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to remember the name of a punk or hardcore album I listened to around 2004, though the album itself is likely older (possibly from the 80s or 90s). The cover was predominantly white and featured a crucified grasshopper (or some kind of insect) along with what seemed to be a reference to the Pope or religion.

The music was definitely punk or hardcore, but I can’t recall if the band was famous or more underground. It might have been Brazilian or international, as I’ve listened to both.

Does this ring any bells? Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Didn't get anywhere personally and they already tried reddit's version of tomt, so I hope someone can help. To cut the story short a person I know asked me to help them find a movie and here's what they remember, its not much but its what we got: • The doctor got infected because of the patient he was working on.

• The son hitched a ride on his dad's car and stayed in the bathroom, watching through the ajar door.

• There's a behind shot of the prostitute sawing off his leg and lifting it up to examine it.

• After feeding him, the prostitute lays down on the same bed as the doctor to watch TV and eat pizza.

• The characters were all white, I think the doctor was stocky? I can remember exact details except maybe the prostitute had a ponytail?

• After the prostitute leaves, the boy exits the bathroom and the doctor finally notices him. I think he has a look of despair as the boy solemnly leaves the motel room.

• I think I watched this in the early 2000s and it was set in that timeframe.

I remember it being swathed in blue I think it was in color though, just a bit subdued?
