I really respect the step dad in this chapter. He recognizes that he should be keeping the best interest of all three kids in mind (even if Aoba isn't his biological son). He states what the issue is and, if it isn't addressed by Aoba, what the consequences would be.

Now, if only any of the parents in this story could get jobs with less travel or a better work/life balance...but I guess it wouldn't be as interesting a story then.
