Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- AI-generated comics aren't allowed.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

Wouldn't the second one seeing the first one released over the volcano simply jump off into the ocean?

Probably not, because contrary to what video games would indicate, water does not prevent all fall damage.
So the older video games told me the truth! - that the slightest contact with any body of water is instantly fatal from any height.

Sure, sure, water doesn't prevent fall damage, but a well placed hay pile and a properly executed dive will...
In fact, it prevents almost no fallcdamage beyond 20 feet
You might be able to get away with just broken legs if you landed right. Then you'd be in the middle of the ocean was broken legs.

Sure, but, I mean, it's Aranaktu.
A cloud descenda out of the sky and offers a rainbow swing to sit on and fly away. The only way a sane person would ever ride on that, unprompted and unprepared to see such a thing, is if there was a charm or mesmerizing effect happening. These folks stood no chance. The clouds showed up and Aranaktu welcomed them all.
The other way would be if someone hadn't had all hope and wonder removed from them
That's why old groucy cynics rarely get dropped into Volcanos. Remember kids being a Sourpuss saves your life.
It's not just a volcano, it's Aranaktu. Why would you pass up your one chance?

It's not clear whether the people know they're going off to be sacrificed or not. Maybe they're glad to do it.
Aranaktu looks like he's a least a kilometer tall. Those children were doomed the moment they sat on those rainbow swings.
