Welcome to the other half of the world, its called the southern hemisphere. Its seasons are inverse of the northern hemisphere.
It's not rocket science.
The article is specifically about wildfires in the northern hemisphere in December. It's not a good evolution that it's turning into a year round phenomenon instead of seasonal.
