In my continuing search for gnarly fucked up tones I decided to pick up a Death By Audio Octave Clang. I kind of got turned on to this a while back by Ty Segal who likes to use the Apocalypse pedal in the Octave Clang mode but this version wasn’t available at the time.

The octave is what really sets this thing apart from other fuzz and drive pedals IMO. Without it engaged it sounds like a pretty normal muff style fuzz. I do think the tone control has a wider range and really responds well to switching pickups or the tone control on your guitar. Either way I’m pretty happy as it gets that Velcro sound I’ve been trying to find without being too out of control like a Fuzz Factory or something.
