When should I be concerned whether or not a provider comes with a newsreader?

No, tbh I'd be a little concerned if it did IMO

The provider is kinda like the ISP you connect to for the internet

Your newsreader is like your web browser

You can choose each independently

Got it, so if I were to subscribe to a provider, and use a couple of other indexers, and plug those into the sabnzb, I would have zero use for a newsreader?

Unless you actually wanted to browse the (mostly dead these days) forum side of Usenet, then no, sabnzb is operating as your newsreader in this scenario

Awesome. Thanks dude

Sabnzbd is your newsreader in that setup.
