Trump softened his stance on China tariffs and admitted he wasn’t going to fire Powell. Market went up right after that.
Large index funds match the stock market on a percentage basis, not based on individual performance. So they take in billions every day from 401k contributions in paychecks and buy Tesla, not because Tesla is doing well, but because it's in the S&P 500.
Elon today announced in a more concrete way that he will step back from DOGE, and more soon-ish than it was previously assumed, iirc.
