there are certain species with a darker side—for example, carnivorous caterpillars that eat aphids, butterflies that drink alligator tears, or "vampire" moths that feed on livestock blood. Add to that list the newly discovered "bone collector" caterpillar, which conducts daring raids on spider webs for sustenance, camouflaging itself in the body parts of already-consumed insects to avoid being eaten.

alligator tears

Does this mean that "crocodile tears" actually are real, or is crying exclusive to alligators, or that butterflies eat ripped alligators?
