Is it illegal to lie? They are not trying to steal money. Yes they're misrepresenting themselves on purpose but is it illegal? I have no clue.

Lying for personal gain is fraud still, though not criminal.

Customers can decide if they want to conduct business with the business after the fact. I know I wouldn't want to.
