It’s harder to control the flow of information on a decentralized platform.
Unlike when the Turkish opposition was banned on Bluesky without recourse.
You could probably fit all the Turkish people on this platform in one room.
There used to be a turkish lemmy instance. So yes, they know about this place.
There's a New Zealand instance as well, there's like ten regular users.
Actually it has 39 daily users.
There must be a few lurkers, I doubt that many people post or comment.
That's true conceptually, but the Fediverse is too sparse and casual to be an actual catalyst. The best you could say is that members might talk about ideas and issues relatively early compared to much of the wider web, but that only makes it a (fickle) weathervane.
