General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Yeah, send them over; we have a corner on the worlds cognitively and morally challenged market over here. Not a brag, just acknowledging the situation. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Can you narrow that down a bit before we book the ticket?

[โ€“] floofloof@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Got to be American. Only Americans assume everyone knows where they are.

[โ€“] Codpiece@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Maybe, but even that needs narrowing down. An American friend of mine says that the two coasts are relatively sensible and everyone in the states inbetween are utter fruitcakes.

Has your friend heard of Florida? And some of the northern states in-between are relatively sensible too - Minnesota for example.

[โ€“] Codpiece@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think theyโ€™re in denial about Florida.

Denial is the standard state of mind for Florida.

Well, I can understand the feeling, but it's not true. Many of the states in between have a better ratio of relatively sensible people to fruitcakes than it looks like, but the fruitcakes have gerrymandered voting districts pretty severely. Which is a self reinforcing issue.
